Yeah that would really suck if DiFilippo makes the offense so good that he gets an HC offer after one year. The Cardinals should look for a guy with no advancement potential who makes the offense mediocre at best. :sarcasm:

Not picking on you specifically, WildBB, but i've seen this sentiment expressed repeatedly and can't begin to wrap my head around it.

right? Because nobody ever loses a coordinator?

If the guy aint gonna generate interest for promotion why would we want him?

If we draft a young guy, then JDF would have a year with him if he then accepts a HC job... that year alone would benefit a rookie a lot, it's not like the knowledge taught would leave with the coach :)

Because of this it's important to groom good in-house coaches that can eventually take over. Just look at Wilks who took over from McDermott and now they have Washington already in place to take over.

I would love Flip as OC and make sure that we have an in-house replacement that is familiar with the scheme to continue developing our offense rather than starting over again without Flip.

All I'm hoping for is that our newbie OC be creative, aggressive, good at halftime adjustments is a QB whisperer and a King of Matchups.

Conversely, I don't want an OC who plays it safe, is unpredictable, lets his QB flounder or falls into play calling ruts.

Our likely guy sounds like DeFilippo to me, but maybe SK and SW have someone else in mind we don't know about.

I don't know all of Wilk's coaching tree connections but I will bet he hires someone who he has known or worked with in the past.
