best news in a long time, if only divisions meant something we have the Kings and Lakers in our division.
Why is it that I think Magic Johnson will be a HORRIBLE team President?

Could this have been because they didn't get Cousins? They wouldn't let go of Brandon Ingram? Really?

The key to a role like that is surrounding yourself with the right people and then listening to them. Is he smart enough to know he doesn't know it all? I have some doubts.

No, it was thought to be a done deal from the moment Magic made his comment about being in control, if not from the moment the Buss Lady first hired him.

Inability to trade for DeMarcus Cousins reportedly helped lead to Lakers firings
The failure of Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak to trade for Cousins may have cost them their jobs
The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly were also in the bidding for Cousins and perhaps could’ve offered more, but their refusal to include rookie Brandon Ingram ended any possible trade discussion with Sacramento.

And while not including Ingram may be a smart long-term approach by the Lakers, in the short-term this decision reportedly hastened the firing of Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak and the promotion of Magic Johnson .

According to USA Today’s Sam Amick, not getting Cousins was the last straw for Buss and Kupchak:
