Playing NE in the first game will really help the Cardinals, since it will also be the first game of Tom Brady's four game suspension. Can't do better than that.

That's assuming Brady is suspended. There are no indications that the NFL is going to win its appeal.

This would be insanely lucky if Brady were not available, but...... I'm not feeling that lucky

Would rather beat them with Brady in the lineup. :D

I also can't imagine a worse start than losing to them without Brady.

True and if they do win the appeal they could reduce the number of games. I guess having the first game makes him not playing a possibility regardless, but Pittsburgh's no-name back up did a number on us last year so careful what you wish for right?

There is no reason for Tom Brady to concede to anything, even a one-game suspension. He's already beaten Goddel once in court and will likely do it again. This has turned into a personal vendetta for the league, and everyone knows it. The league revoked two draft picks already, which the Patriots will argue is punishment enough.

The Patriots are not a party to this issue.

Actually there are indications. The Appeals Court was much tougher on the NLFPA lawyers than the NFL lawyers. Sometimes that is enough to know which way they are leaning.

However, even if Brady loses this round, he will appeal and stall again. I fully expect him to be playing in Week 1. In fact, I bet he will lose his appeal shortly after Week 1 so that other teams get to benefit from his suspension, but not us.

Just wanted to give you props. At the time you posted this I thought you were crazy to think he was going to be suspended again. My bad!

Ohcrap, thanks. But I'll be holding my breath, as I'm sure he'll appeal. And while I'm pretty sure that the appeal will fail, there might not be a ruling by the time we play them. My real hope is that the suspension is cut to two games and that Brady accepts.
