Just listened to Paula Boavin of the AZ Rep on Xtra 910

She reported what most have said already -- Cooper looks like the guy they saw pre injury his rookie season. Moving around well, etc.

What was interesting is that she said that in talking to him she noted he had an edge about him-- that he was angry that he was portrayed as not tough or not caring, etc. he said he was looking forward to having a big year.

Cooper at full potential vs Iupati? Any chance Cooper claims the LG spot this year or next?

It's funny that he has and edge about the image he was responsible for portraying. He was the one that was out of shape and playing timid.

Seriously? Let's see if he is even starting material before we let him take a 3 time probowlers spot...

These are the normal pointless reports we get every year before the pads go on.

Was a hypothetical question. The potential of a G taken 7 overall should be as good or greater than just about every G out there. I realize he's done 0 on the field.

It's really surprising to me how quickly people are willing to turn on a guy who suffered a pretty brutal injury and treat it like he's just being a wimp, or doesn't care.

It's really easy for us to judge from our desk chairs.

I think the only judging at this point is lets see you play before we praise you. Looking good in camp is his thing, I want to see him look good on the field before I go back to supporting him. I liked the progress he made when he did play last year and want him to be really good but I am not hoping for it anymore. Hope leads to disappointment.

If I am making the coaching decisions , I would leave Coop at RG . Coop and Massie have been at the O-Line training camp this off-season working together , Massie at RT , Coop at RG , getting comfortable going through their practice drills together . In the videos that I watched they seemed to be bought in to what the coaches were teaching . Massie and Coop have gotten familiar with each other , IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT !!!!

And we pay good money to do so, and Cooper gets good money to be in a position where he is criticized by people in desk chairs.

Furthermore, what does being in a desk chair have to do with an opinion on a NFL football player ?

Best way Cooper can get people back on his bandwagon is to live up to his billing, and as a NFL fan, I have every right to question him as a player, and that includes his toughness.

Right now the only thing Cooper has shown is he is injury prone in the NFL. 3 injuries in two years.

but last year -- it was pretty clear he didnt look good at OTAs, training camp, etc. I remember listening to an interview with Calais last year at camp and they asked about Coop and he gave a very vague and non-committal answer. That was when i thought there was a problem

i do agree -- this is good, but hardly definitive

Once a professional football player is worried about "the critics" outside of himself, it's rarely a good sign.

I hope Coop can turn it around, but it's easy to talk a good game when you're 100% healthy and have played 200 snaps in the past 24 months. It's a different thing when the bumps and bruises of an NFL season start to take their toll.

Listening to the coaches and reading between the lines, my concern about the OL has to do with the center position, which is now a toss up between Larson and Shipley. Using the theory that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. But it is refreshing to think that, at worst, we are only one player away from having a dominant OL. And, at best, we already have one.

I would just like to interject that it is not Cooper doing any of the talking. . .

I'm just happy that the story is he looks good, as opposed to he looks like crap like we heard last season. whether it's true or not, remains to be seen, but the Cards and the media hasn't pulled their punches with Cooper so I'm thinking at worst, he looks better then he did last year at this point... which isn't saying much, but it is some kind of improvement.

Its the makings of a really decent line, with depth.

Add a big running back to that and I am really looking forward to watch.

There's a huge difference between toughness and your body just not allowing you to do the things you want to do. Can't force yourself to heal.

The desk chair thing is basically saying that we have the luxury to be in the position where no one is going to question our toughness as part of our workplace performance. If I break my leg, my department's performance and the outward evaluation of my job doesn't have anything to do with how I perform at the company field day.

I have no problem with calling a guy injury prone, but acting like that somehow is a question of is character is unfair, in my opinion. (At least when the guy has only two years since he was drafted.)
