There's a huge difference between toughness and your body just not allowing you to do the things you want to do. Can't force yourself to heal.

The desk chair thing is basically saying that we have the luxury to be in the position where no one is going to question our toughness as part of our workplace performance. If I break my leg, my department's performance and the outward evaluation of my job doesn't have anything to do with how I perform at the company field day.

I have no problem with calling a guy injury prone, but acting like that somehow is a question of is character is unfair, in my opinion. (At least when the guy has only two years since he was drafted.)

Is Steve Keim allowed to say that Cooper needs to toughen up and play through some pain? Because he did:

“The guy had a tremendous career at North Carolina, and to my knowledge was never hurt or ever had a significant injury. So now this offseason, he’s had to deal not only with a significant lower-leg injury, now he has a significant turf-toe injury. Turf toes can be major issues,” Keim said, via the Arizona Republic. “I think it’s going to come down to the fact that he’s going to have to feel comfortable getting back on the field and, on top of that, a guy who has never been hurt is going to have to understand how to play and manage playing in pain. That’s going to be awkward for him, but the most time he is out here … he’s just going to have to get used to it. He understands that. It’s sad because we all have such high expectations. I’m disappointed in the injuries; I’m not disappointed in the player.”

I'm just happy that the story is he looks good, as opposed to he looks like crap like we heard last season. whether it's true or not, remains to be seen, but the Cards and the media hasn't pulled their punches with Cooper so I'm thinking at worst, he looks better then he did last year at this point... which isn't saying much, but it is some kind of improvement.

I feel the same way; as some else mentioned earlier, it was telling when Calais Campbell had the opportunity to praise him and he very obviously equivocated.

Cooper is only a potentially really good lineman right now. He has movement skills that's all. Now it's on him to play through pain/injuries and play with good technique.

I'm not patient with Cooper any longer. In my eyes, he's the Ryan Williams of this team right now. Put up or shut up.

And we pay good money to do so, and Cooper gets good money to be in a position where he is criticized by people in desk chairs.

Furthermore, what does being in a desk chair have to do with an opinion on a NFL football player ?

Best way Cooper can get people back on his bandwagon is to live up to his billing, and as a NFL fan, I have every right to question him as a player, and that includes his toughness.

Right now the only thing Cooper has shown is he is injury prone in the NFL. 3 injuries in two years.

There was one thing I read about Cooper in numerous scouting reports during his draft which I did not like, it said he had been known to be 'soft' and unable to play through pain. Now, I would garner Cooper would make me look like a pansy dealing with pain and dude also broke things which has nothing to do with being soft when that happens... but, that is one thing I could not get out of my mind watching him play and then be on sidelines regardless of the circumstances, and I hope Cooper can eradicate that assumption this year and play the whole season like a boss because the kid has the size and talent :)
