Coach takes the blame, but the problems start at the owner. Front office miscues have made a laughingstock out of the team during the off season. The whole organization needs to be purged.

From ownership to the fan base. And I love it. They've always been right there with Cowboys and now the 49ers for me.

I think it's bad for the league. The raiders were once one of the top franchises in any sport now they are a laughing stock. I've never liked the raiders at all but the nfl is better when they are winning even if it is just staying relevant.

But from a pure fan's perspective, I have to revel in it. As far as the league goes, I don't really care about the old traditions. Old traditions are built up, only to fade away. If the Raiders folded up and closed their doors tomorrow, I don't think it would affect me one way or another and I've been a fan since the 60s. Once proud franchise or no, they've done it to themselves. JMHO.

 I'll just agree to disagree.

They did it to themselves is right. Their off-season moves were probably the worst in the NFL. Letting go of good players, not signing anyone. They probably tried but players had no interest in signing with them. I really feel bad for the current players on the team, especially Carr. I bet when he was draft by them, he cried inside.

Sounds like the Cardinals circa 1988-2006.

Instant classic

Oh and otherwise, it's amazing the guy who gave Allen all the retreads and never-going-to-be's is still there. Flynn over Palmer. Schaub over Carr. Saffold as T for more then Veldheer, then pulling the offer... screwing Saffold, and his agent... and agents talk to other agents. All that capspace and they got retreads on the way down. They still have more next year, but man, like one of them has panned out according to Raiders fans.. can't remember who.

Raiders are a mess, and it starts with a guy who makes young Bill Bidwill look like a sage. Bill didn't have 24/7 NFL coverage and an insane TV deal that guarantees profits, Mark does. It's a whole new level of ineptitude.

Mark Davis is the problem. McKenzie is the current manifestation of Mark Davis as the problem. Allen had no chance, and was made the scapegoat, while the real problems remain.

I wonder if the rumors of McKenzie wanting Schaub to start will reflect itself in coming weeks. I guess Carr injured his ankle... not sure how bad. So I guess we can't use who starts as a litmus test. But if Schaub sucks (when) and Carr is healthy, we'll see what happens.

Who knows maybe in 10-15 years Mark Davis will learn how to be an owner, but it's going to be rough for Raiders fans.

But they got that way with the same ownership. That's the head scratcher. i posted this in another forum but they haven't had a quality QB since Gannon and haven't drafted a quality QB since Stalber. Since Stabler they've relied on veterans from other franchises: Plunkett, Hotetler, Schroeder, Mirer, George, Gannon, Collins, Brooks, Palmer, McCown, with a smattering of rookie busts like Russell, Marinovitch, and now Pryor. You can't have that kind of QB instability and expect to be successful. We're living proof of that.

Plunkett ruled, but you have a point.

Did he really get fired via text message saying, Hey Coach what's up? You are fired (then 4 emoji fire icons) lol.

Was this a joke?

Al Davis was too hands on and set in his ways. The league became a bunch of big box stores and he was still running a mom and pop operation. But at least Al Davis was at one time a brilliant football mind. Mark Davis doesn't seem to have anything going for him.

While true, it isn't why the Raiders fell. The Raiders fell because Al was likely senile or suffering from dementia for the last 10+ years he was in charge. Looking at their drafts - in particular their first rounds picks from about 1999 on, it's pretty clear what their biggest problem has been.

Actually, they just changed the locks and wouldn't let him in.

Truth is, If I was Allen, I would be doing the happy dance right about now.
