There have been more than a few people who have their suspicions about the job Josh McDaniels did in Las Vegas. The long time offensive coordinator and former Broncos head coach, was hired as the Raiders head coach in 2022 and lasted just a season and a half before wearing out his welcome and being fired.

No question giving McDaniels a second chance as a head coach serves as a cautionary tale for Raiders owner Mark Davis. One among many, it would seem. But at least one former Raiders player seems to think McDaniels's brief tenure in Las Vegas was less a matter of incompetence and more a matter of sabotage.

Former Raiders safety Johnathan Abram is apparently in Las Vegas where he took a picture of Allegiant Stadium and posted it to his Instagram account, saying "I miss playing inside you. Josh McDaniels ruined everything we built! He should be arrested for sabotaging the organization and going back to NE."

Now, Abram clearly has beef here. It was midway through McDaniels's first season as Raiders head coach that Abram was released by the team. But McDaniels was literally voted as the worst head coach to play for, so his feelings are not entirely unfounded.

Abram was in his fourth season with the Raiders after having been selected in the first round (27 overall) of the 2019 draft under then head coach Jon Gruden who had been forced to resign midway through the 2021 season.

It was Gruden who took a chance on Abram as a hard-hitting, but undisciplined safety out of Mississippi. And without Gruden around anymore, Abram no longer had a head coach in his corner.

After his release, Abram went on to appear in 19 more games for three more teams and playing his last game in New Orleans in October of 2024. McDaniels took the 2023 season off before once again returning to the Patriots under new head coach Mike Vrabel. That team went to the Super Bowl last season where they lost to the Seattle Seahawks whose offense was led by OC Klint Kubiak who is now the Raiders head coach.

Abram is known for being quite a personality due to HBO's Hard Knocks crew capturing his antics during his rookie training camp. Anyone who saw that season of the show would probably not be surprised Abram would say something like this. And probably should take it with a grain of salt.
