Putting Winston and his issues aside for a moment:

College football players have access to great food, and plenty of it.

Not that I have first hand experience, but from what I understand they get anything they want from the cafeteria.

But wouldn't it generally be the same stuff. We all like variety. All their friends are enjoying variety, and much of the variety is housed on campus. Do people even use the cafeteria at ASU? I only saw people buying fast food when I went there.

Wasn't part of the ASU baseball violations besides paying students for work they didn't do, was food being bought?

The whole food thing should simply be taken out of the equation. It's not worth it for individual students nor institutions to have problems because of food imo given everything that applies to college sports.

If students do end up getting paid, alot of that money will be going to eat at places the athletes want to eat at.

College athletes do indeed get three unlimited meals meals per day, at a designated cafeteria. Additionally, the schools are allowed to provide two snacks per day. So what's the problem? On the surface, that seems to be quite adequate you may think.

But. . . When you are speaking of high performance athletes, weighing between 200 to 300 pounds, their regimen demands a higher caloric intake. Four to five thousand calories per day.
Caloric Needs Including Activity:
For our 220lb Male power athlete that is classified as having a high activity level we use the following equation to determine the number of calories he will need to maintain his weight: 2215 calories x 1.8 = 3987 calories Reference: http://aueagles.com/information/str_and_cond/nutrition

Eating that many calories in only three meals per is quite a challenge for most people, their stomachs simply aren't large enough to be able to do so. But they get snacks also right? According to the NCAA a bagel is a snack, but a bagel with cream cheese is considered a meal. So the snacks are very limited.

Now consider that some athletes would not have the means to even attend a university without the scholarship; in many cases they don't have any disposable income of their own. In some of these instances these athletes aren't able to even buy a slice of pizza and soda with their buddies.

Bottom line: NCAA rules are in need of reform!

He released a statement that said;

He bought other items that he paid for, but forgot to pay for the crab legs. How does one do that? The most expensive item in the basket( or was it down his pants) and that is the one he forgot to pay for. Self check out ( no one will notice ).

At least he didn't deny being there this time.

It can certainly happen if you get distracted but as you said it would be forgetting to pay period, not forgetting to pay for one item that happens to be expensive.

Putting the alleged rape that was dropped for lack of evidence a side for a moment, let me get this straight...

He was interrogated about involvement in a BB gun battle, Burger King reported that he heisted some soda in a ketchup cup, now this crab leg caper. Hmmmm....

Hopefully, no one finds out about the time he was forced to skip recess in kindergarten because he played keep away with his class mate's lunch box.

In light of these earth shattering revelations, I am not surprised that his draft stock is dropping like a rock, especially considering he has another year of play before then and could very well rack up another Heisman, unless he gets a traffic ticket or something of course...

:sarcasm:

Boy that first one is a doozy though isn't it? Putting aside that the lack of evidence was due to lack of an actual investigation by the police who kept suggesting to the victim that she probably didn't really want to press charges against a football player? Again they actually stated they could not find the friend who had given her the drink at the bar. The friend is a teammate of his, a roommate of his, and they'd literally spoken to the friend a week earlier when investigating all the windows being shot out with BB guns in the area. They were able to find him then, oddly they couldn't later on and by the time they did, he'd deleted the tape of the incident that he admits he had recorded on his cell phone.

As others have said it's a pattern of I'm above the law. Which if you're an NFL team looking to invest a ton of money in a high pick might concern you.

Just the rape charge and his weight alone would take him off my draft board in the first round. If being on the Heisman banquet circuit fattened him up that quickly imagine what NFL money might do?

He has a chance to be a great player, he also has a chance to be in a whatever happened to segment if he's not careful.

Well good thing you're not a GM.

Drop out of the Top 10? He'd be the #1 pick this year if he was draft eligible?

Did someone really bring up BB gun shooting and getting soda instead of water? LOL. The kid is what, 18. Lets not forget that.

And he was never charged for the sexual assault so I see no reason to keep bringing it up.

Stealing soda, LOl.

the biggest question in ALL of this is pretty simple:

What the hell is a ketchup cup?

Have you never been to a fast food chain where you pump ketchup into a tiny cup?

It's pretty sad when they put more effort into solving a shoplifting crime than a rape crime.

He's 20.

The stealing soda comment I pointed out a few weeks ago a story about that, here's the followup where only after getting ridiculed by the national media, did the Charleston people decide not to fine a man over 500 for not paying 89 cents for a soda refill because he said he thought the refills were free. He was fired over it and they apparently haven't reinstated his job

http://www.wistv.com/story/25269079...eral-fine-after-he-doesnt-pay-for-soda-refill

I keep bringing it up because frankly I don't care if he was never charged, it's very clear he was never charged because they did such a poor job investigating it there wasn't enough evidence to charge him. They botched the investigation. I don't care if he's the best QB prospect in the history of football he's not above the law and it's pretty apparent that brush with the law and getting away with it didn't scare him at all.

I would not spend a first round draft pick on a kid who reportedly put on 18 pounds between winning the Heisman and showing up for practice for the first time before their bowl game. Especially when that kid keeps getting in trouble.

Stealing soda is one of those is beyond hilarious. I give him a pass simply because of the ridiculousness of it.

They have clear plastic ones too and I'm assuming that's what he was using. Soda would leak right out of the paper ones.

Look at how those crab legs were asking for it!

He actually from a further story had to go to the deli counter, order the crab legs and some other seafood, and then after having it handed to him was supposed to pay on his way out but forgot to.

What a shellfish kid.
