Whenever I rave about a college QB and his pro potential, just disregard bevause I obvioulsy have no clue. I have a horrible track record in who I think is/will be good and who I think is not any good.
Examples:
1) I was touting Tyler Wilson for 2 years. I read where he is now 4th on the Oakland depth chart and passed by former Penn St. bum Mike McGloin.

2) When he entered the league, I thought Joe Germaine was as good as anybody. I think he played in the Arena League.

3) A couple years ago, the freshman for Texas relieved the "injured" Colt McCoy. I said he'd be a great QB. I think he transferred to SMU and did nothing.

4) A couple years ago Iowa freshman Vanderburg lit up OSU. I thought he'd have a great career. He didn't do a thing.

5) I ripped everybody and anyone, especially Skorp, who touted Philip Rivers as a top 5 draft pick.....oops.

6) Even though I'm not giving in yet, I think Russel Wilson is way overrated and will struggle................pencil him in for league MVP.

7) I said Terrelle Pryor would never amount to anything as a QB. Now it looks like he may start in Oakland. Draft him for you fanatasy team.

At least I got Troy Smith and Andrew Luck right..........so far. And I still think I can get Alex Smith right even though the more I ripped on him, the better he played.

Obvioulsy, I have no idea what makes a good QB. I'm sticking to LB's. I know them.......just ask me about Rolondo McClain :D.

You are the closest thing we have to Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders...

You're not nearly as bad as that moron who was raving about Drew Henson for years. Where is that guy now?

Because Peyton Manning never really won the big one at Tenn, I thought he'd be a bum in the NFL.

I thought Jake Plummer was going to be the next Joe Montana.

I thought Matt Leinart was going to be the next Joe Montana.

I think Carson Palmer is going to drive us crazy. Hopefully I'll be as wrong about him as I was about Plummer and Leinart.

I wanted them to trade up for Deion Sanders. Instead, they drafted Eric Hill and Joe Wolf.

I have been mostly wrong since then.

Don't forget Josh McCown is going to be the next Brett Favre!

My corner picks have got to be worse that your quarterback picks.

Yeah, but my ears perk up when you talk about running backs.

I thought Danny Wurffel was going to be the next greatest. At the time I couldn't believe that he didn't get drafted until the 7th round. I was also a big fan of Leinart. Just to show why we would should never quit our day jobs.

Neither should a lot of the gurus and chief scouts.

Just one :).

I still say if he would have stayed away from the vodka and out of jail, MoC would have been a good NFL RB.

Plus, unlike everyone else, I wanted AP over Levi Brown :D.

I'm am still pretty excited about Mark Sanchez.

Haha. I also may or may not have once said I liked Rosenbaugh and Johnny Johnson better than Aikman and Emmitt Smith.

I drank a lot in college. :)

too much goes in to the making of a successful NFL QB....you cannot pick just who is the best available....but who is the best for your team, staff etc. I still think Rivers was the best QB in that draft,...but Manning's rings would argue otherwise....I also believe that Rivers would be better now than he is if he had gone to Oakland or Minnesota. Manning on the other hand....would be selling car insurance if he had went to sandy eggo.
the coaching staff and team philosophies have a major impact on how a QB develops physically as well as psychologically and many good college QB's come in to the NFL and get FUBAR'ed by the team that drafted them...... not purposefully of course, but coaches have egos too...and often think they can mold a player into the guy they want because he already has skills and intangibles.....also, IMO...one of the biggest traits to look for in drafting a QB is humility...when a guy is asked about a good game or a successful play, I want to hear him pass credit around to his team mates,...and really mean it,...it is usually an indicator of a guy who never truly believes he is good enough at the game, and he will work harder at it.....there have been exceptions to that however, as in anything else.
