But Bell is a LT and they make more $$ than RT's

Not in this market and with this FA pool as it stands right now. Jeff Backus re-upped for a smaller deal than what he was looking for and he's well established.

Nabbing D. Bell would be amazing at this point and make the re-signing of Levi easier to swallow.

Happy with the re-signing of Levi and Bell is still on the radar screen, according to Jurecki.

And 35 years old. Apples and Oranges.

True but Bell has started what 20 games in his injury riddled career? Jeff Backus deserves much more that what Bell should get, don't you agree?

Don't agree not even a little bit. You are not going to give a 35 year old much if any guaranteed money. But you will give a 27 year old with upside and just as much ability(at minimum) some guaranteed money.

Some guarantees certainly, but if he thinks he's a $7/8M a year, he'll be sitting at home coming to his senses for awhile.

Lutui isn't under contract, correct? This tells me that DeCastro can be a real option at 13. You know how KW likes to bring rookies along slowly, so we could draft him behind Snyder and have, GASP, depth!

Say hello to Phillip Blake OC/OG out of Baylor in the middle rounds. Could be much more affordable option over Hadnot and should be around a 5th/6th round pick.

KW is not afraid to throw offensive linemen to the wolves, see Levi Brown, Brandon Keith and Lyle Sendlein. IF the Cards drafted DeCastro, he would start from day 1.

Sorry... no way Blake is available as late as 5th/6th. He was way to impressive at both the Senior Bowl and Combine.

(Assuming both are ready for prime time) the difference between a FA and a draft pick is that, when you sign the FA, "he's yours", but when you "hope" to draft a rookie, you can't be sure he'll be there when you pick.

DeCastro is pegged to go before #13 on many boards.

I agree that Blake grade out higher, but I believe you will see so many teams running at early OGs, the 2nd tier will go later than projected. Blake probably values in the 4th round, and this is where I see teams starting to make a run on the depth of the OT group. PLayer like McCants, Adcock, Sanders, Datko, and Adams will probably start being picked at in round 4, and I expect all to go before Blake. Just a hunch.

Hope you're right.

I will make an avatar bet with you right now. I am 100% positive if the Cards draft David DeCastro, he will start week 1 on our offensive line barring injury.

Can't make that bet, because I don't know what other moves will be made. If we don't add any more OTs, there's a good chance Snyder moves to OT.

Brown started due to an injury to Oliver Ross. Keith didn't start until his third season in the NFL, and Sendlein I think was only a starter due to injury.

I do not this this this is the case.

Regardless, hopefully this is the end of people referencing PFF's OL "metrics" to gauge Offensive linemen. For two years before he came to the Cards, Hadnot graded out as one of the top 5 linemen in the NFL in PFF's rankings. Started for one season and was completely non descript.
