Lockout related?? NFL Sunday ticket

last night I saw a commercial in which direct tv says NFL sunday ticket is now included in all subscriptions at no extra charge.
Maybe this is because no one was buying it due to the lockout?? If so....will it be free for only one season?
Has anyone else seen this commercial...maybe I was having an LSD flashback.....

I believe it's free for new subscribers.

hmmm... my contract ended two months ago...may have to call and threaten to cancel if they do not include it free,lol.

I called directv 6 days ago and got an immediate 120.00 credit to my bill. They also gave me 25.00 off a month for 2 years. Total savings 720.00 the question is why wouldn't anyone subscribe?

Told them was taking a big pay cut at work(true).. Told them that unless they could reduce the cost of Sunday ticket(120 instant credit) that I would cancel it. Told them no reason to keep direct TV without sunday ticket. Also told them I have been a member for over a decade. Told them unless they could give me some monthly relief from premiums as well that I would have to cancel. The above is what he offered. I accepted without argument.

Because DTV is more expensive than Dish to begin with and when you break it down to a per-game basis it doesn't make sense for me.

Per game still cheap IMO. Dish network is the worst TV I have ever seen. Would rather have cable.

Because I live in a fancy pants prewired walkup in brooklyn and DirecTV isnt allowed to install in the building. WAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!

i cancelled cable and now use netflix streaming for $8 a month to watch movies and shows instead of 100 a month for cable. When football is back I will just visit a buddies or hit the bar.

Dish is awesome. Great interface, and most of the channels I watch are in a pretty basic package (except for the science channel).

And it's cheaper for me to hit the bar than to pay for the Ticket and DTV. It's not per 16 games. There are a handful of Cards games broadcast here in Denver on the networks and I go to hang out with friends at least a couple of Sundays anyways. It wends up being 9 or less that I'd be paying for.

That's fine you assign the value you do to having the Ticket. I just don't.

I can just never see how going to the bar would ever be cheaper than getting Sunday Ticket unless you are just sitting there drinking water (and if that's the case, trust me, that establishment would rather you not be there). If you averaged a couple of beers per hour and had a hamburger, you would probably be spending at least $30-$35 with tax/tip. And that's assuming you are only there for one game. Most of the time, you get to the bar early or stay later to catch some of the other games. Even if there were a couple of games on local TV every year, that would be $400-$500 for 12-14 game days.

For anyone wanting to reduce your bill, keep in mind that the discount they might offer is based on how much you've been paying. Apparently, they have discounts set up already and they are tiered depending on how many premium channels and extras that you regularly pay for.

I used to get offered the better discounts when I would call in but since I've cut my service down to their lowest package($29.99) they are very reluctant to give me anything at all when it comes time to haggle over Sunday Ticket.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Dish. Since we have nothing but Netflix at the moment (boooo) I am sooo eagerly awaiting when we go back to having SOMETHING. My vote will be Dish. Had them in the past; would take them over DTV or Cox any day.

Oh, and when I say I love them, it's BECAUSE of the interface. It's so much better than the alternatives.

Holy crap you blew my savings away! I only got $20 per month waived. $5 fewer savings and no initial $120 reduction. I should've threatened "bye-bye direct tv" instead of just removal of Sunday ticket.

Interface sucks. And yes it's cheaper but not much cheaper. But you get what you pay for.

DTV is very expensive. After your initial year your price goes way up. We pay around $80 per month now. The day I can get a game by game package for the NFL elsewhere is the day I switch out if DTV.
