So, exactly what is the standard for Whiz & DA?

Derek is a suited 9-8. Not a made hand, but pair one of the two and you beat the pocket 4's. You also have a straight chance. You also have a flush draw. Lots of upside, but the hand isn't made (needs to learn the offense, but could make a spectacularly exciting hand.) However, the hand is inherently weak, as exciting as it is.

It's a MUCH more fun hand to play, but is a heartbreaker more often than not.

It wouldn't be shocking to see the flop be J-Q-K suited and hit the straight flush...

If you like poker, you have to like that analogy even if you don't agree with it.

Anyway, it seems more likely at this point that the J-Q-K are unsuited to the 8-9S and the Cardinals end up with jack-squat at the end of the hand!

Damnit, now I was thinking of my favorite bad gambling hand to play 10-9S. I have to fix it again.

I expect Anderson to throw the Cardinals in and out and in and out and in and out of games with remarkable consistently frustrating success/failure.

You consider 10-9 suited a bad gambling hand? It's a great hand as long as there is action before the flop. I wouldn't recommend it in a heads up situation but with decent position and 3 or 4 callers I love that kind of hand. No one is going to rush to put you on it and it makes in so many ways plus you can usually bail out after you miss the flop. Now, if you're the type that can't fold after the flop you need to wait for big slick or something like that but with some discipline any connected suited can pay well. JMNSHO.

Somebody jokingly suggested we use DA for 1st and 2nd downs and bring Leinart in when we're looking at a 3rd and 4. It seems to me it might not be a bad idea to do something like that with Hall. Otherwise, yeah the only thing he'll do consistently is scare and frustrate us. Of course, I still think he's a better option than Leinart who would have just been consistently bad.

Not a bad hand but it is a risky hand that needs played carefully. It isn't a top tier but I love playing it strong.
