FYI-- Mike Lombardi is reporting that the Cards aren't alone in looking for veteran help at the corner position:

AF--You're joking making that comparison, right? McCarthy and the Packers had three training camps, three preseasons (over 100 attempts in 2006 and 2007 combined), and three years worth of practices with Rodgers as the #2 QB before handing the reins in '08.
On the other hand, Toler spent most of 2009 as no better than the
fifth cornerback on the depth chart. Behind DRC, McFadden, Mike Adams, and Ralph Brown. By the end of the season, he'd earned his way above Brown on the depth chart. So at least 75% of that illustrious tape you're suggesting made this choice easy was Toler regulating on Ornea Jones. Does that make you feel good about how he'll perform against T.J. Houshmanzadeh next year?
Of course, we shouldn't be worried. It's not like we weren't saying these same things about the post-draft release of Rod Hood. We had an experienced #2 then, and everything worked out all right. It's not like the Cards ended up the #23 passing defense in the NFL last season.
The pass rush coming from Joey Porter better be pretty fierce. 35+ sacks from Porter, Dockett, and Campbell combined.
