Cardinal's rookie running back Beanie Wells, who led in rushing with 793 yards and seven touchdowns this season is already getting prepared and focused for next season.

After losing in the postseason to the eventual Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints, Wells took a brief break and is already looking forward to next season.

"I gave myself three weeks off, and I got to get back to work" Wells told Gambo and Ash Wednesday.

Wells also said he is also looking forward to working with quarterback Matt Leinart, who he thinks has had enough time "under Kurt's wing."

With Kurt Warner announcing his retirement Leinart is expected to be the Cardinals starting quarterback and Wells feels Leinart is ready for his opportunity.

"For the running backs at least, Warner's retirement was unexpected…he has showed Leinart the ropes and I think he's ready to step in there," Wells said.

Wells is very confident Leinart has the abilities needed to take the Cardinals back to the playoffs next year.

"I'm loving it out here, I'm hoping to be in Arizona for the next ten years… I want Arizona to be my home."

Beanie will be a 1500 yard 10TD monster next year as the feature back.

His ceiling is limitless and I am glad to hear he is already at work for next year.

IS ML putting in the work? We'll find out...

:deadhorse:

Can we please give the guy a chance? I don't think I'm to worried if he isn't all in the playbook & throwing passes with his WR corps 1 week after the Super Bowl!!!

I have no idea how it will all turn out for Matt but he has done all you can ask I guy to do the last couple of years off the filed or everyone around him including Whisenhunt is a liar.

Leinart worked his tail off last offseason: doing drills with Tom Brady, MMA training, kick boxing and other calisthenics. I expect the same if not more from him this time around.

Geez Laura. Lets take this time to remind posters not to turn every thread to turn into "Will he or won't he" with regards to Matt.

Its tiresome and the offseason is just a week old.

Man the offseason sucks... I am trying everything I can think off to make these long months go by faster till atleast preaseason... Guess I have the draft to look forward to, but I can't wait to see Beanie next year I bet he will try to work on becoming a little bit faster if he can. I'm looking forward to seeing him tear up the 49ers next year :). GO CARDS!!!!

Trying to get back on track...

I LOVE to hear this about Beanie. Very excited to see what he does next season. I'm glad to hear him giving ML his vote on confidence, and that he loves it here. In short, I liked everything he had to say.

The article is wrong. Wells did not lead the team in TD's.

With Timmy on this team and how much coach Whiz likes him I'm betting his highest ceiling will be about 1100 yards unless Timmy gets hurt. Still really good though.

All that being said I love what I'm hearing and hopefully will finally be able to see the guy break a long run.

OH Quit your damn crying about ML!!!!
Whew, now that that is off my chest, I think that Lott will actually bring Beanie in next yeaR about 3-4 lbs heavier with muscle as needed for the feature role I think he'll play more of at Tailback. Since he'll know the offense, as long as he's right he'll catch more 35-50, and block more effectively also. I expect Hightower to improve as well, but talent will win out and Wells will improve by leaps and bounds whileTH does but slower, as his talent decides.

As much as Wiz like Tim (and rightfully so) I think it will take training camp and maybe two preseason games for the entire team, coaching staff, and fan base to realize carries taken away from Beanie is a bad idea. Sometimes talent is just too obvious. Tim will just become a 3rd down specialist and get 6-8 carries a game, but Beanie will be the 20 carry guy. Mark it down now.

I mean I am sure Brad Childress likes Chester Taylor and thinks he works real hard too but......

We shall certainly see. Everybody kept saying the same thing this year from about week 2 on. But it didn't happen.

Not sure if the link stated this or not but I heard the interview. Wells is already working out with Coach Lott. Wells fell in the draft because he admitted that he ate everything in site after he left school and ballooned to over 240. He played last year at 228 to 232 range. He actually wants to play between 220 and 225 this year. He and Lott think that is the magic number or that invisible line where you maximize your speed, agility, and endurance without lowering your power.

Actually if we go back to the posts in preseason, I called it pretty much spot on on how Beanie would be used. I was one of the few defenders of the possiblity of Hightower getting better, much to many's chagrin.

But that had more to do with Wiz and how he brings along rookies and remains loyal to the player that work hard, then what I thought Beanie could do.

Year 2 in a run based offense??? Beanie's getting the ball 75% of the time.

Jesus you two have taken someone's off the cuff use of the word "probably" to a WHOLE new level.

If only anyone cared enough to tear apart Shane and SoCal's posts word by word ;) :)

I know I write like crap and I freely admit that I am to lazy to go back and correct mistakes I make. Thats why there is a "shane rule" on the board. :)

I know I rarely ever put an apostrophe in where it belongs too. So go ahead and be my guest. You just may hurt my feelings. ;)

BTW off the cuff or not that was a pretty ridiculous comment. There should be no doubt in Matt's mind about how hard hes going to be working in the off season. NONE!
