Which is fantastic. Thanks for the write-up Super-Spck. Don't agree with all of it but I certainly appreciate the hard work and good read.
What's your version? Let's keep this thing rolling, Saturday is too far away.

I'm guessing you'd have Alex Smith in the 29th spot?28. Orlovsky needs to be lower I watched him orchestrate a lot of train wreck last year.
29.?
30. Young looks like he can’t run a pro system and can’t run the option system the coaches installed for him. He flashes occasionally, but doesn’t seem to do enough of anything well enough to look like he can stay in the league (he’s fast, but not fast enough, he can throw, but not with supreme accuracy or velocity).
31. O’Sullivan barely a backup and one of those times when the vaunted Martz system didn’t produce a star.
32. Hanie not enough information to elevate him.
Edited my previous post in case you didn't notice.Which is fantastic.

I didn't see that you had commented on O'Sullivan. I ended up repeating what you said I think.Edited my previous post in case you didn't notice.

- Jeff Garcia, Oakland
- Seneca Wallace, Seattle
- Chris Redman, Atlanta
- Billy Volek, San Diego
- Michael Vick, Philadelphia
- Jim Sorgi, Indianapolis
- Troy Smith, Baltimore
- Matt Leinart, Arizona
He got a lot better last year. I think he's pretty good now, and wouldn't be surprised to see him either take over for Hasselbeck when his back finally gets the better of him or compete for a starting gig somewhere in the next few years.I am missing something about Seneca Wallace? He doesn't seem that good to me at all.
Really? Hmm, interesting. I thought for sure he was just not very good.He got a lot better last year. I think he's pretty good now, and wouldn't be surprised to see him either take over for Hasselbeck when his back finally gets the better of him or compete for a starting gig somewhere in the next few years.
I really don't have a problem with this. Up to this point Matt has not shown anything to write home about. He also has not gotten that much playing time behind Warner. Though I admit, I am impressed with his first pre-season outing....he just needs to sustain it.
2nd string QB is either the best or worst job in all of sports...
Thanks for the write-up Super-Spck. Don't agree with all of it but I certainly appreciate the hard work and good read.
2. Sorgi lives and breathes his system and the Colts have never tried to replace him. Say hello to Gary Kubiak part 2. Good comparison. I don't think Sorgi will ever do anything but accelerate his departure if he ever has to play.
I'm in the minority in Minnesota, but I think Farve's a turnover machine who's physical abilities have declined to the point where he doesn't bring much more to the table than Sage. His experience is worth considering, but his alltime INT rate is too. I agree with you.5. Sage is underrated by many and most people focus on his most recent lowlight. My early prediction is that the Vikings are going to be very happy they signed him by the end of the year.
I LOVE Ozzy, but they really have a few spots that they just can't seem to nail on that team. We'll see if Flacco's the long term answer.7. Redman has a star crossed path, but the last time he started he put together a pretty good run. If something happens to Ryan the Falcons aren’t lost. I've been very impressed and surprised with Redman and it just helps punctuate how getting out of Baltimore is probably the best move any of those QB's could have made.
It's 8 yards an attempt, not elite by any level but that's just in the ballpark of what you want an average to be. In full disclosure the Vikings were an exceptional run defense but couldn't defense the pass nearly as well (but by pass attempt #30 they should be able to guess what's coming). It's not incontrovertable evidence of Leinart's sucess, I look at it as an accurate gauge of what he's capable of.11. Leinart, Banks may have knocked Matt’s consistency, which is true to an extent, but throwing for 400+ in a game your rookie season means you can play at the level. Spending as much time in the offensive system as he has doesn’t hurt either. I know I'll get killed for this but Leinart threw the ball 51 times that day. 405 yards on 51 attempts is not something that everyone should be pointing to as an indicator of his potential. He also only threw 1 TD that day in 51 attempts. Since that day, he hasn't surpassed 300 yards in a game. I think the Cardinals are in good shape at QB but that 400 yard day didn't mean much then and it's been a long time since it happened.
Man we're good with obscure QB's. Walter didn't totally tank as a starter and being in a good system will only help, so perhaps I have him too low on the list.20. Walter he gets a break by being a Patriot, the Patriots didn’t get a break signing him. Remember Rohan Davey? I'll see your Rohan and raise you a Quinn Gray. Both those guys looked far better than they turned out to be. Not sure Walter falls into that category but I haven't got to see him with NE yet.
He had some pretty good numbers, but a box score tells jack in the preseason. Anyone lay eyes on him so far?31. O’Sullivan barely a backup and one of those times when the vaunted Martz system didn’t produce a star. I think O'Sullivan was saddled with unrealistic expectations coupled with being put in a high risk offense. From what I've heard, he's looked pretty sharp for the Bengals. Don't know if he'll ever make a good starter but his SF stint is a bit of an unfair barometer.
Have you had a chance to watch him? I'm just curious, like Molker said, it was an aggressive offense and I just want to know if he looked any sharper away from the system.O'Sullivan has looked good for the Bengals thus far. Granted it is just two preseason games. Maybe getting out of SF did him some good?
I was slowly falling asleep as I wrote my version. A little embarrassing. I'm really pulling for Smith, and he did have one rebound year with Norv, but I don't know if he can do it without him or stay healthy for a season, but it'd be hard placing him higher.I'm guessing you'd have Alex Smith in the 29th spot?
I caught it today, sorry it took me so long to get back.Edited my previous post in case you didn't notice.
When we watched that play happen everyone in the bar just knew that would be the deciding factor in the game. It was really too funny.Dan Orvlosky?!?!?! As in the same guy who ran out of the back of the endzone last year?
Somebody is drinking some Hater-ade!!!
Not piling on, but am curious what your thoughts are on him.how in any galaxy can you rank Smith above Leinart?
I am missing something about Seneca Wallace? He doesn't seem that good to me at all.
What J said.He got a lot better last year. I think he's pretty good now, and wouldn't be surprised to see him either take over for Hasselbeck when his back finally gets the better of him or compete for a starting gig somewhere in the next few years.
Good pay, get to see lots of different cities, mock the 2nd stringer. Good gig.3rd string is the best.....2nd is the worst
He has done well in very limited action for Baltimore. That's much of what I'm basing everything on. Ever so slight edge to Smith for now.Unless you own a Whataburger franchise, how in any galaxy can you rank Smith above Leinart? There's not one reason that can back that up. At least the other guys, Matt included, have shown some ability to play in a legit NFL game.
He's not vey good I agree, but take away that play and game he's been so-so for a backp QB. That's why he's in the 20s.Dan Orvlosky?!?!?! As in the same guy who ran out of the back of the endzone last year?

Admittedly no, but it would be difficult to put up the numbers he has and not look good. Granted it's versus 2nd stringers and just two preseason games in. That's why I haven't moved him up much (if any right now). He was so bad in SF that he was nicknamed Just TurnOvers, but I'm interested to see how he does with the Bengals tho.
