since I'm sick of hearing about our Cardinals who want new contracts or other professional athletes who want another million, I will say this. I know enought about life to safely say that this is all about greed and it does not reflect well on the players. "I want you to root for me and I also want you to pay me millions to root for me" LOL. Now I simply do not want to hear all the crap of "they live in another world, you don't understand" , "wouldn't you want the most money you could get" crud and so on and so on. No I would not want millions upon millions because anyone with enough common sense can make millions off a few millions to last them and their family for a life time. Anyone too stupid to invest a couple of millions and make more millions should not be burdened with a million bucks in the first place...their feeble brain does not deserve it. I will root for the Cardinals this year like never before, if Q, Docket want me to give a damn about them...suit up and hit the field...if not...bye

Dockett has to avoid cheap shots from OLinemen but then looks forward to beating the crap out of a QB or a HB. This is football...these are the modern gladiators.

Look, I drive an hour and half to work for hardly a decent wage to help the mentally handicapped from 11 in the evening to 7 in the morning. I get the crap beaten out of me by a long drive, guys who go off because of there condition and strike out, clean people wetting themselves because they physically have problems getting to the restroom and cannot even remotely know what it is to be blessed and run as fast as a WR called Fitz who we consider slow. My brother does bone cancer surgery and does not only see people get the crap beat out of them by cancer but 10 year old kids die and he does not even approach what Dockett makes now. Care about a bunch of athletes who want enough money to buy a small island? Sorry, I do not understand it and to say "oh their security"...nevermind if I have to explain how a initial paycheck of around three million should set you up for life.


Hopefully Q and Dockett show up during the season because I like what they give the team but I will no longer worry about this thing because these guys are living a dream. Watch the draft, those guys are estatic because they are about to live the dream...fame, chicks, money. I don't think any of them are saying "God, help me I'm gonna get killed out there" more like "I can't wait to jack some guy up and feel the rush of the crowd yell". Nope...don't give a damn about players wanting more and more.

That's right, and the hypocrisy actually makes sense. For Edge, it is his standard MO. He's not trying to protest or be a child with it. For DD and Q, it's a form of protest and a contractual thing, which I don't hold with.

Exactly! Was it last year that Q and Fitz both had perfect attendance at the offseason program and I distinctly remember a long string of excuses for James not being at most of the OTAs. Now Anquan misses the first OTA and it's like he's the anti-Christ. Give the guy a break. He wants and deserves a new contract.

If he misses all 20 OTA's I will be slightly concerned. But like Whis says, it gives the coaching staff a golden opportunity to evaluate guys like Lance Long, Ahmad Merrit, and Early Doucet more fully than if they were sharing first team reps with Q. It also allows Kurt and Matt to get some reps with guys who may be pressed into service due to injury. It's not all bad.

Unless they are both complete imbeciles they new what a contract was before they signed it. If the guy next to you gets a bigger raise you can go into your boss and complain about it however do you really think its going to make a difference and get you more money. Your boss will probably tell you if you don't like it go find another job.

They work from mid July to the end of December. Basically half a year unless they make playoffs. If they make playoffs they get handsome bonus pay for it. We work 12 months a year. People who are paid hourly get time and a half for working extra hours, salary people get squat. Their medical needs are completely taken care of. We help to pay for our medical needs.

They made the decision to play professional football knowing what the potential consequences could be with regards to their physical well being. We picked our profession knowing what the physical consequences could be.

A good number of us work at physically demanding jobs 8 or more hours a day. They work at physically demanding jobs 2-4 hours a day.

They get paid to work out to maintain their physical shape. We pay for the ability to work out to stay in physical shape.

During training camp their employer provides them breakfast and lunch. When was the last time your employer picked up breakfast and lunch for you?

During the season they get every Monday off with pay. Do you get every Monday off with pay?

If they get hurt on the job they continue to receive full pay. If you get hurt on the job you receive workmans compensation which pays 1/2 to 2/3 of your pay.

I could go on and on. My point is they should look at what they have and consider themselves fortunate. They know going in what the risks involved are playing professional football. They weighed it aganist the rewards and made a decision to take up the profession. They could have gone into the major they studied in college instead unless that is they never finished college so they do not have a degree.

The argument that they put their bodies on the line just doesn't wash. So do police, firemen, rescue workers, construction workers, etc. all knowing that they could get hurt or lose their life in an instant. They chose to perform these jobs. They all know the risks involved.

Lets not make these football players out to be heros or that they make sacrifices for us so we can watch the game. They are in it for the potential big bucks and the ego trip.

Yes some of them give to charity and devote time to the community. They should for they have the time and resources to do so. I believe many of us give what we can to charities also. We just don't have the resources to give as much.

Lastly if they are so devoted to the team and fans as they say they are why do they listen to a guy who's only objective is to make as much money as he can for himself by getting them as much money as he can get them. The more money he gets them the more he makes.

Way different scenerio's. Edge isnt showing up to OTA's because he is pouting. He only misses half of 14 days, with a few legit reasons, first his kids birthday, and second he holds a charity event for his foundation for kids. Boldin and Dockett are missing these becuase they are pouting and making a statement. Completly different circumstances and its obvious. Dansby and Wilson are also looking for better deals but they found a way to show up.

Also Boldin does not deserve a new contract with 3 years left on it. There is not a player in the league who deserves a new contract with 3 years left on their deal, not a one. It sets a bad situation that allows for any other player who has a grip about their contract situations. Cards must and will hold a hard line especially on Dockett who has 4 years left on his deal. It is better for the team in the long run if they do, especially since they are collecting more and more talent they cannot set a precedence.

I say the same thing myself. Lets see if they show up for weeks 2, 3 and 4. Lets see if they are just using the first week to make a small statement then show up for OTA's, which I am fine with slightly. If they miss more then half I have a huge problem with that.

Does this statement also apply to Boldin as well or is his pedistal to high for this to apply to him as well.

I also beg to differ. My kid is the most important thing in my life and takes precedence over anything else, job included. Any job I have got they know this before hand.

Boldin also has that "C" on his jersey. Meaning he has a much higher responsibility to set a tone, pace, vibe, or what will you.

As for its no biggie. I gaurantee its a biggie to the coaches and some of the players especially the ones who have already attached themselves to wanting to learn from these guys.
