Round 1--Antoine Cason
Round 2--Ray Rice
Even though I love Edge maybe trade Edge for a third round pick?

No way we can get a third round pick for Edge, maybe a fourth, more likely a fifth.

there is no point in dropping edge. 5 mil is nothing for a running back with his skill. we just need to get a speed guy who doesn't suck like JJ to spell edge. that would make edge much more effective.

I like Rice a lot, but will he still be there in the 2nd round? I agree with the others that there is no reason to get rid of Edge, but JJ needs to be replaced. I've watched Rice throughout his career at Rutgers & I think he will be a very good player in the NFL.

I have yet to see rice in a mock draft and assuming he is in this draft (IIRC he is a junior?) he will be available in the 2nd or 3rd round depending on the run of RB's.

I agree he is going to be a great pro as he reminds me a lot of Emmitt Smith (the good version) and I think it will be a great value pick.

One thing we are not taking into account is combine numbers. Guys like Medenhall, Stewart, and Rice could all rise up spots or drop full rounds depending on how they perform in the off season.

Or are we forgetting how many of us wanted to spend our #10 pick on Lendale White two years ago prior to his poor performance?

Edge's cap # is 7 mil in '08 we would get 5 mil in cap savings by cutting him. I believe he has a 5 mil salary with a 2 mil signing bonus that would still be due even if he were cut. That being said I'd like to part ways with him and use the money to go after Faneca who would cost about 6 mil/year over the next three years. My 1st 3 round would go...

1. Stewart/Mendenhall
2. Best CB available (Talib/Flowers etc.)
3. Best 3-4 OLB available

I'd take Stewart/Mendenhall running behind a line with Faneca at LG as opposed to Edge running behind a line with Wells at LG ANY day. I think Okeafor coming back healthy will be a MUCH greater upgrade in the pass rush than many believe, so I drop the OLB to rd3.

i don't know why we would the about the 5th best CB prospect with our 1st round pick. But, it's your dream. If i'm going to dream,I would take Gholston in round 1, Stewart in round 2, and Terrell Thomas in round 3.

I don't see the Ray Rice love, especially second round. There are plenty of better prospects ahead of him, seriously.

Ugh. Don't remind me. I remember how bad I given heat for calling White a second round pick and didn't want him. Yet I was the one called crazy then.

I do remember that at the time people were wanting to take LenDale White in the first round our Running Backs were JJ Arrington and Marcel Shipp who had just put up the following numbers:

Shipp 157 carries 451 yards 2.9 average
JJ 112 carries 370 yards 3.3 average

Also the Cards had moved the ball well between the 20s but stalled in the redzone leading to Rackers big season.

Easy to see why many Cardinal fans were high on getting a power running back. Of course the Cards felt the same way they just went and acquired a veteran instead of White.

As to the combine, after reading "The Draft" and how a guy set up a training camp simply to show guys how to post big numbers in Indy I'm amazed that anyone still puts a lot of emphasis on those workouts.

Edge would be owed his accelerated bonus for 2008 and 09, which total 3.5 million.

I went and saw this kid play a couple days ago in the Orange Bowl and i am infatuated. I will have to look into his size and speed of course - but he passed the eye ball test (at least from the upper bowl at Dolphin Stadium). And damn he is a playmaker.

I am going to add my dream FA with this thread.

Probably will not happen because of franchise tags an supposed lack of cap but:

FA: CB Drayton Florence, OLB / DE Terrell Suggs, OG Alan Faneca

Re-sign: Dansby & Pace, RFA tenders

Draft:
1. Vernon Gholston or Derrick Harvey
2. Aqib Talib or Antoine Cason (if there)
3. Kirk Barton
4. Ian Johnson
5. Adrian Arrington
6. Louis Holmes
7. Kicker

Florence will be the cheapest of CB FA's. Suggs could be lured here, grew up & starred at local HS & college but most likely to get tagged. Faneca re-unites with Russ Grimm, his mentor.

Cut / Unresigned: B. Johnson, Berry, Ross, Holt, Shipp, Rackers
