He's a lot better in zone than trying to stay on a man.

The other team's quarterback threw the ball and Antrelle Rolle caught it.

ROFL!!

Totally agree though. He can ball hawk and hit. He needs to be at FS.

Wouldn't his poor tackling be a liability as a Free Safety?

His tackling has been his biggest asset. He's as good a tackler as any CB in the league and would be just fine at safety.

Wolfley said today he didn't think Rolle can play safety because of his lack of speed and his tackling. He has to be better than Holt.

Not according to everything I've seen, heard or read. Wolfley and Pasch seem to think he's missed an excessive number of tackles this season and I've seen him whiff on more than one occasion trying to make the big hit rather than the sure tackle. Wolfley said today he feels he'd be a failure at sfaety due to his poor tackling.

Lack of speed for a saftey? But he thinks Antrel can play CB in the NFL?

Wolfey has lost darn mind.

I don't think speed will be a problem but his tackling is shoddy...but it still would probably make for better play than Holt.

Well, I will have to totally disagree with Wolf. I have seen Rolle make GREAT open field tackles.

That's an automatic move then... even my grandma can be the FS if that is the criterion.

We can move him to FS or we can keep at what he has been since the Bengals game as a nickleback/pseudo-safety.

Our staff finally seemed to find a spot to play him but it was right before the injuries to Berry and Wilson which really depleted our pass rush. Its amazing how a pass rush can make a secondary look good.

Playmakers are hard to find. Rolle has more than earned a shot at safety despite his shortcomings.

If I remember correctly that was one of the knocks on Adrian Wilson early in his career.

But Rolle is an excellent tackler for a DB imo. I've seen him make many solid tackles over the last 3 seasons.

As for Wolfley, you have to remember how many wedges he ran into and take anything he says with a grain of salt. :D

Rolle is definitely an above-average tackler.

Clearly, the guy is capable of big plays. I saw a lot of Tom Knight comparisons the last couple of weeks, but Knight never made this many plays. Knight had 2 INTs period, for us. I think we need to put him in a position to do what he appears to do best.

The second INT was a classic FS INT. Guys, Bennett looked to be WIDE open. Rolle made up a hell of a lot of ground to get over there for the pick. No way Holt or Francisco make that play, IMHO.
