One former Pittsburgh Steelers safety has shared an interesting look at his release from the team and his encounter with then-general manager Kevin Colbert.

On a recent episode of the Ross Tucker Podcast, ex-Steelers safety Myron Rolle revealed what really happened during his release from Pittsburgh, including claims of some odd comments from Colbert.

“One of the most challenging moments of my life was being released by the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Rolle said via Penn Live's Nick Farabaugh. “And being told by their GM, ‘You’re playing well, but we’re not worried about you, Rolle. You can go on and be president one day. You can go on and be a doctor. You’re going to be fine. You don’t need football.’ I’m like, I’m here grinding like these guys. And I’m playing well. That’s not a really good reason to let someone go. And then, don’t patronize them by saying you’re going to be fine in your other career.”

Forgoing the 2009 NFL Draft to further his education at Oxford University, Rolle received a Master of Science degree in medical anthropology.

Rolle was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 207th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft but didn't appear in any regular-season games. He signed a reserve/future deal with the Steelers in 2012 and was released that same year.

Rolle went on to graduate from Florida State University College of Medicine in 2017 and later became a neurosurgery resident at Massachusetts General Hospital.
