The Phoenix Suns have been forced to make some adjustments to their lineup because of injuries to Raja Bell and Amare Stoudemire. With a deep roster, it hasn't mattered much right now.
The Suns seek their third straight win Tuesday when they host the New York Knicks.Phoenix (5-2) is coming off a 106-96 win over the Orlando Magic on Saturday. Steve Nash had 19 points and 11 assists while Leandro Barbosa -- starting for the first time this season in place of the injured Bell -- led the Suns with 39 points on 15-of-26 shooting, making eight of their 12 3-pointers."I'm not surprised," coach Mike D'Antoni said of Barbosa, who also had seven rebounds and six assists. "I'm glad he did. He has been struggling a little with his shot. ... Tonight, he just got a couple easy ones at first and just took off."Barbosa, the 2007 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, is averaging 18.6 points. He came into the game shooting 42.9 percent from the field but was only 17 of 49 (34.7 percent) in his previous three games before Saturday's victory."Coach always tells me to keep shooting," Barbosa said. "He says if you are open to shoot it. Today I was feeling great -- maybe I am not struggling anymore. You have to be patient when you are struggling."Bell, who sprained his right ankle in Friday's victory over the Miami Heat, is questionable for this game, and Barbosa could possibly start again.Stoudemire, who missed three games earlier this month because of knee pain, had 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting on Sunday."Right now Amare's knees and legs are fine, he's just out of shape," D'Antoni said. "But in a week or so he'll be fine."The Knicks (2-3) come to Phoenix having lost two straight, including a frustrating 75-72 defeat to the Miami Heat on Sunday. New York led by five with 2 1/2 minutes left, but made key mistakes down the stretch before point guard Stephon Marbury missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer.Eddy Curry scored 19 points to lead New York, which played without leading scorer and power forward Zach Randolph, who returned home following the death of his grandmother last Friday. It's not known when he will return, but his absence was clearly felt. Randolph is averaging 20.3 points and 13.5 rebounds in four games."It hurt a lot," Curry said of Randolph's absence. "He was definitely missed. My heart and prayers go out to him and his family, but we definitely missed him."Without him, the Knicks shot just 37.3 percent from the field. New York came into the game having scored over 100 points in three of its first four games and shooting 47.9 percent."We got to play hard for 48 minutes," said forward Quentin Richardson, who left Sunday's game with a hyperextended right elbow. "We can't lose a game like this any time."The Knicks now begin a four-game West Coast road trip that also includes games against the Clippers, Kings and Nuggets.New York, which has lost four straight games at Phoenix, was swept in last season's series.

Stephon Marbury AWOL from Knicks' morning practice

By FRANK ISOLA
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER
Tuesday, November 13th 2007
PHOENIX - Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury was conspicuously AWOL from this morning's team practice, putting his Knicks' tenure in jeopardy and throwing the team's season into chaos.
On the day the Daily News reported that the club had decided to reduce Marbury's role and may be discussing severing ties with the Brooklyn-bred hoops star, head coach Isiah Thomas informed the media at this morning's shootaround that second-year guard Mardy Collins will replace Marbury in the starting lineup tonight against the Suns.
Thomas also said that everyone on the team is on notice and hinted that center Eddy Curry may be benched against Phoenix tonight.
Curry attended the shootaround, unlike Marbury, whose whereabouts as of this afternoon were unknown. Marbury made the trip out west with the team on Monday. Tonight's game is the first of a four-game road trip out west.
According to a team source, Marbury became upset after learning he would not start in Phoenix, at which point he threatened not to suit up for the game.
"Any type of penalty or suspension will be in-house and we'll try to keep it within the confines of our team. This is an in-house matter with our team and we'll keep it and leave it at that," Thomas told reporters today. "We hope to see (Marbury) tonight at the game. However, if he's not, make no mistake about it, we want him as a member of our basketball team."
Thomas was unsure if Marbury was still in the Phoenix area. There is a possibility that Marbury returned home to New York. All any of the Knick players would say was that Marbury was not on the team bus when the team departed for their morning practice at the U.S. Airways Center.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Marbury is a gigantic bust and terrible NBA player.

This should be a pretty easy win if we play well I expect a Charlotte type game. Hopefully we can empty the bench come the 4qtr.

bust?

Not even close.

You can't be a 20/8 player and be a bust. Not possible.

He's just under it at the moment by .1 assist and I think .2 ppg, but he's damn close to being 20 points and 8 dimes a game for his CAREER.

only Oscar has done that, at 25 ppg. Magic 19.7 and 11.7 dimes (IIRC). No other PG has gone 20 and 8 for their career. Starbury, douche that he is, has that chance.

Surprised Kidd hasn't averaged 8 APG in his career. Nash has been moving his way up too.

Stephon is a bad rebounder though...he sucks there. Which is why he won't ever crack any top 10 or 15 lists, most likely.

Oscar and Magic...best PGs to ever play.

Oscar avg'd a triple double his second year in the league. That's just ridiculous. Then came within .5 of doing it again three different seasons. Disgusting.

Yeah, that is what kills me. Kidd has been Mr Trip-Dub of the 90s and 00s and he is still so far behind MJ and Oscar.
