Well, he shot incredibly well after they changed the ball... for what 4-6 weeks at most? Then his shot went right back into the toilet except for that occasional game every two weeks or so.

I'm not happy about selling the #24. I would not be happy about giving away James Jones. I swear though that most of the people bitching and moaning about this move, which seems to be completely made up anyhow, are the same people who just wanted to unload his $3 million salary about a month ago.

Joe

Suns fans have a right to complain about selling picks.

The complaints about James Jones were accurate, but giving an asset away without anything in return is what they are complaing about now, and they are right to so so.

The suns have no TE, it was Portlands to use and they used it.

But there has to be something else to it, because this trade hasn't been made official yet.

To be honest, we don't know what we are ultimately going to end up with after selling #24 and what ever we are getting from JJ. Let's just wait and see if Kerr can make something happen. If, when training camp starts, and nothing significant in FA happens then I say get the torches and pitchforks and storm the castle. Until then, as confused as I feel, I think the best thing to do is wait.

But if we do that, what will we talk about today? :sarcasm:

but this trade, once done will create a TE for the suns to use....if the chose to use it. 1/100000000000000 chance of that happening

But there has to be something else to it, because this trade hasn't been made official yet.

they cant make the suns/blazers trade official until the ny/blazers trade is official.

the TE that they blazers will use to get Jones will be created on the completion of the ny/blazers trade. until then, because the pieces havent been created, nothing can be announced.

I understand that, but usually there would be something in the media confirming it.

If indeed we did trade JJ to Portland via their trade exception, does this mean we get a Trade exception now too as well?

I may be confused and apologize if this was already covered earlier in the thread.

Look at it this way. The Suns are over the cap, and Sarver is trying to shed a bit of salary. Do you blame him? Is James freaking Jones worth $6,000,000 a year?

I think something else is in the works. If they can grab Hill I have no problem essentially replacing JR with Hill and Tucker. Not to mention they are most likely keeping Thomas. And if they did somehow get a trade exception it's better than nothing.

Out:

James Jones

In / staying:

Hill
Tucker
Thomas

I know it's a natural emotion to overreact, but people need to start thinking logically before making irrational posts. Now, if KT is traded for cash considerations I'll go ahead and flip out with the rest of you.

Yes the Suns get the TE. As far as using it, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Thank goodness I am not the only one thinking rationally here. (well, there are a couple of us anyway)

Seems that both the national and Oregon media have confirmed it. Maybe the Az media is waiting to hear the proper spin control before saying anything.

Nah.

If that was the case, it would have been included in the Paula Boivin article that everyone calls "spin."

Did I miss a national media link?

And the Portland pick purchase is still not listed on the transactions wire... Perhaps the Suns said "At the request of our fans, we are keeping the Fernandez pick. Because we can never have too many players in Europe who aren't coming to the States to play in the NBA. We are going to have him training with Vujacic..."

If they get rid off Jones they can sign a Free Agent that is better than Jones and there are lots of.

They also must be confident that Tucker can take his playing time.

I'd still rather trust their judgement than yours.

Jones was terrible there is no excuse. Also for people questioning that Tucker a first round pick in a strong draft and proven GREAT college player can't replace James Jones who was a 2nd rounder in a weaker draft and without even half of Tucker's resumé.. I am thinking thats pretty funny..

And you guys want to beat the Spurs? With James Jones who is completely uneffective against them because he can't do ANYTHING on offense besides camping at the 3pt line?

At least Tucker should be able to take Finley or Ginbobili in the post or off the dribble and make a midrange jumper instead of running into Duncan like a headless chicken.

you can't use a player's old draft position to bolster your argument, that's ridiculous. according to your argument b/c gilbert arenas and carlos boozer were taken in the second round you'd find it funny that anyone argue they were better than alando tucker, afterall, tucker was a first round pick and they were second round picks . . . next.

jr has PRO experience and experience in OUR SYSTEM. that already puts him leaps and bounds ahead of tucker. and what about "HAS NO OUTSIDE SHOT" do you not understand about tucker's game? or what about "HAS NO HANDLE" do you not understand about tucker's game? and he's going to develop those in less than a year? according to you he's going to "take finley or ginobili . . . off the dribble" . . . that's laughable at best. and his inability to even maybe hit a NBA three screws with the suns spacing completely. jr was there for spacing. at least he was a threat to hit the three. no one will cover alando at the three point line.

now i was never a fan of jr's. i always hoped we could find someone better to replace him. but i am not for one second going to buy into tucker as a good replacement until he disproves all of his KNOWN shortcomings.

I would think Splitter would have been the better fit than Fernandez, but whatever.

That may have been a better pick. But until the Spurs actually have him in hand, nobody knows. I would rather have a player that is ready to go now, not if and when he/his team decides.

This guy is the ultimate NBA tweener.

Prediction: in few years, neither of these draft picks are on the team.

Tiago has been ready to go for at least 2 years. It is his contract holding him back.

Right. That was my point. And then when he "could" get out of his contract, his team will up the ante, portray him as an all-star locally as opposed to a bench player in the NBA, etc. But, that is just my cynical nature.... :)

As I understand it, if James Jones was traded/ sold to Portland his salary would create it's own TE. I find it strange that Oregon is reporting it and Phoenix is not even mentioning it (even if it's not officially complete).

However, I'm not sure if selling a draft pick (#24) creates a TE.
