The Seattle Seahawks reported to the first day of mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. One of the most notable storylines to follow was the health status of running back Zach Charbonnet. Remember that Charbonnet suffered a season-ending torn ACL injury in the divisional round playoff victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
Charbonnet was on the practice field in a limited capacity, according to footage captured by the Tacoma News Tribune's Gregg Bell. Charbonnet is four months post-reconstructive knee surgery. The fact that he's on the field in any capacity suggests he's on a positive road to recovery.
The Seahawks let Super Bowl 60 MVP Kenneth Walker III leave in free agency. Theoretically, that would put Charbonnet in the RB1 role. Charbonnet's torn ACL obviously complicates that, and the Seahawks probably shouldn't expect him back in the lineup until October or so.
The Seahawks responded by selecting running back Jadarian Price with the 32nd pick in the 2026 NFL draft. Former undrafted free agent George Holani has been seeing a sizable workload at OTAs and minicamp. The Seahawks also signed Emanuel Wilson in free agency.
Charbonnet will play a legitimate role once he returns to the backfield. The Seahawks are well-stocked at the position until then. The current indication is that Charbonnet is recovering nicely.
