I think it is very cool and fun that the powers that be at the national television networks have agreed to celebrate National Marquette Day by putting FORTY-SEVEN college basketball games on nationwide broadcast today.

What’s that? It’s probably more because they’re shortening up Sunday’s broadcast schedule because of the Super Bowl? Okay, you probably have a point there.

IN ANY CASE, there are 18 games with at least one ranked team involved, including all three women’s basketball games on national TV today. None of those really jump off the page as major contenders to be a great watch, but there is #22 Maryland visiting Nebraska and Ranked Team On Road is worth paying attention to on some level.

There are three ranked vs ranked men’s basketball games on today, and all three are in the evening or later. #4 Duke going to #14 North Carolina gets us started at 5:30 Central, #5 Illinois at #10 Michigan State is at 7pm Central, and if you’re a daredevil, you can stay up for #8 Houston at #16 BYU at 9:30pm CT.

Circling back to ranked teams on the road against an unranked foe, we come out of the gate hot with that, as #9 Nebraska, #21 Arkansas, and #24 Louisville all have road tipoffs at 11am Central today. After that, you have to wait until past dinner time for another one, as #20 Clemson is out on the West Coast at Cal at 7pm Central, followed by #17 Florida tangling with the College Station crowd when they visit Texas A&M for a battle of the two teams tied for first in the SEC (no, seriously, A&M is tied with Florida but not ranked, it’s crazy) and #25 Tennessee fighting with their neighbor to the north in Kentucky.

There is a ton of streaming only broadcasts, including #19 Saint Louis hosting La Salle, #23 Miami visiting Marshall in the MAC/Sun Belt Challenge, and #6 Gonzaga trying to avoid a second straight loss while going on the road against Oregon State in men’s basketball action. There’s also #12 Michigan State at Penn State, #20 West Virginia hosting Arizona, and #18 Texas Tech going down south to Houston for streaming only women’s highlights.

Here’s the full national television schedule for the day, with all times Central, as always.
