There's no doubt that former Twins, Marlins and Padres infielder Luis Arraez is one of the best contact hitters of this generation.
He's hit over .300 in five of his seven career seasons, including three consecutive batting titles from 2022-2024.
Arraez owns a .317 average for his career, with .292 being his lowest average across seven seasons.
That said, despite leading the league in hits twice, Arraez has been criticized due to his lack of power.
In seven seasons, Arraez has hit just 36 home runs and holds a 162 game average of seven home runs.
However, Arraez showcased an unusual stroke of power for Venezuela in their recent World Baseball Classic victory against Israel.
Arraez went 4-for-5 for his country with two home runs, two doubles and five RBIs.
The performance was Arraez' second career World Baseball Classic game with multiple home runs, the only player to ever achieve two multi-home run games in the competition.
This stat comes as an even bigger surprise when finding out that Arraez has just one multi-home run game in his MLB career, despite 840 career games played.
It's safe to say that the World Baseball Classic brings out the strength in Arraez.
Looking ahead to the 2026 MLB season, the San Francisco Giants will hope to see more of that power from Arraez, after bringing him in on a one-year $12 million deal, signing him away from San Francisco's division rivals.
With the Giants, he'll join a star-studded infield which already includes Matt Chapman, Willy Adames and Rafael Devers.
