Cincinnati Reds center fielder TJ Friedl made a diving catch in the eighth inning of a line drive hit by San Francisco Giants infielder Luis Arraez during their series finale at Great American Ball Park, but the ball appeared to pop out of Friedl's glove as he landed.
The Giants didn't challenge, which surprised Reds.TV's John Sadak and Barry Larkin.
"Uh oh," Larkin said during the broadcast while watching the replay.
"That ball did pop (out of his glove)," Sadak said.
"It definitely popped out of his glove," Larkin added.
Arraez was called out, applauded Friedl's effort and returned to the dugout.
"And there is seemingly no challenge here," Sadak replied.
"How do you not challenge that?" Larkin said.
"I don't know," Sadak answered.
One batter later, Reds relief pitcher Connor Phillips was ejected for hitting Willy Adames with a pitch, possible retaliation for a Spencer Steer hit-by-pitch earlier in the game that resulted from beef one night earlier with Giants reliever JT Brubaker.
