I'm originally from Chicago and I am tired on the racial prejidice that permeates through the NFL. If Matt Jones was african american in this league he would have been a top 10 pick with his atheltic ability and versatality to play multiple positions. And yet he was taken in the bottom half in the first roundof the draft.

It's rather obvious to me that most guys on this board automatically think that a black player is automatically better than a white player no matter what the performances on the field show.

It's beyond be that a player like Charlie Fry is still on the board. You look at the Patriots that have won 3 of the last 4 Super bowls with basically overacheiving players both black and white.

I love the Cards 1st round pick but the second leaves alott to be desired. They should have went for a guard because they have serious probles with Bridges at one of the guard and waited to pick up a RB in the 3rd round.
Ciatric Fason will be a much better pro than Arrington hands down.

In closing I know the responses from this e-mail I will get will accuse me of beinga racist. I will resist that label and hopefully you will think long and hard about the opinoins I have listed above.

Are you serious. he was a QB before the combine. Sometimes the best athlete does not always translate to the best player. None of this was racially motivated ... end of story

I think the whole premise you begin with is wrong. Hines Ward and Antwaan Randle-El were not first round picks and they were both athletic and versatile. And, oh yeah, they are also African-American.

Matt Jones was picked in the latter half of round 1 because he is a guy switching positions in the Pros! I still think that was too early for him and expected a team who would have the luxury of developing him pick him later on. Jax isn't that type of team, he may not pay off for them until the 2006 season because going from college QB to NFL WR doesn't happen overnight.

Like someone else said Hines Ward went in round 3 for that very reason and he played some WR in college (as well as RB).

How can you dislike the Arrington pick and like Faison is beyond me...oh well, we are all entitled to our opinions. Can't keep everyone happy.

WTF are you talking about? M.Jones does not even have a position in the NFL and he got selected in the first round. How is that racist?

What does that have to do with it unless you're trying to tell us something about people from Chicago.

He may turn into a high quality player but you have to have some experience at the position you are being drafted for. Trouble is everyone was putting him in a different place. Tightend, reciever, safety, etc... because of his size and speed. He hasn't shown he could play there yet. Everyone knows he's athletically talented.

l have benn reading/posting on this sight for 4/5 years ...

and I'm wondering when you can't respect my opinons that I am giving. I am on this message board every day and whoever accused me of being drunk which I am not is NOT opened minded about what I have to say. This in my take and I would ask you to respect my opinons as much as I respect yours.

Just because I disagree with the majority of the people on this board I can honestly say that 'I am not looking thru 'rose colored galsses'. They are my opinons and I hope all who responded to my reply will respect with I have to say like I respect your takes.

I agree with you although Hines Ward actually played more as a receiver at Georgia. He did a little bit of everything there, RB, QB, receiver, return kicks. He started several games as QB but I thought he was known more as a receiver.

Oh sure, that is respectful. Come on now.

There are racial stereotypes based on position, but it's also based on the fact that many positions are heavily skewed towards one race or another. You could argue that most offensive linemen, QBs, and kickers are white, while RBs, CBs, and wide receivers are generally black.

well the problem is you broke everything into black and white when it did not have to be.

I think you did not study up for the draft and on top of that I can see you as the type of person that asks for other peoples list when drafting for fantasy football.

Tango

I have no idea who Tango is. I'm just giving everyone my take. Just look at the Pat's roster and you will realize it takes more than the hype most of you guys pay attention to at draft time. I takes athletic ability but more importantly the desire to overachive combined with discipline.

The Cards will NEVER win a champioship with Green at the helm.

Call me anthing you want but this is my take. Tomorrow we will see the same thing from Green's drafts purely on athletic ability (i.e. speed) but not on heart and the desire to overachieve.

Just look at the front 4 and 3 backers that the Pat's put on the field last year and then tell me if they were the most gifted athletically in the NFL.

Take off the rose colored glasses and get back to reality. Oh, and incently I am not a Pats fan. Never been to New England and have no desrie to go there.

McGinnist is as talented as any LB out there. Brushi is a stud and smart and so is Vrabel. As a unit there's none better when all three are healthy. They're savy pro's. With the best coaching there is.

I from Chicago too. I don't know what the hell that has to do with anything, but you know what?
You're raining on my/our parade. I could'nt care less about what you think or believe. If you don't like what you see or read on this board then take a minute and listen REAL close.........did you hear that? I think somebody is calling you from the Chcago Bears website.
Personally I don't care if the players we or anybody else takes are black, white, mexican, or chinese. I just hope that the black white, mexican or chinese players we pick are better than the black, white, mexican and chinese players the other teams pick!
