I like Tannehill. He's having a rough go of it this year, but the past two seasons he's been sixth and fifth in DVOA. It's funny; right now we're in a weird state of the NFL where we have a bunch of young unknowns but no real equivalent to, like Bengals-era Andy Dalton. Taylor Heinike has a 0.0% DVOA right now, which feels fraudulent.
I think Kyler--like many mobile QBs--often makes the offensive line look worse than it is. He gets creamed because he's still scampering around even after taking the shotgun snap. More traditional QBs are going to have more secure pockets because their offensive linemen can anticipate where they're going to be at the bottom of their drop.
Maybe Cousins was a bad example because of the psychological baggage and because his teammates seem to hate him. I think if we had Jimmy Garappolo or Matt Ryan or Derek Carr or Teddy Bridgewater we'd be very similar in the standings to where we are now, we'd just have different problems.
But I think the problems would be easier to identify and fix because Kyler introduces so many unique variables into the mix. If we get rid of Kliff (which I don't think we'll do until after next season, TBH), it'll be real interesting to see how a new coach that isn't all-in on him works.
