A New York baseball rivalry is being renewed this weekend in Queens.
The crosstown rival Yankees and Mets meet in the first edition of this year's Subway Series with three games at Citi Field.
We can't wait to see some of the big matchups on the field, especially Cam Schlittler vs. Juan Soto.
But before we talk what will happen this weekend, let's look back at this uniquely historic series.
The first year of the Subway Series as Major League Baseball begins interleague play. The Mets won the first meeting, 6-0, at Yankee Stadium on June 16 as Dave Mlicki threw a complete-game shutout.
The Yankees' record against the Mets as they lead the regular-season Subway Series history.
The Yankees have outscored the Mets in the Subway Series since it started in 1997.
Derek Jeter and the Yankees took down the Mets in the 2000 World Series, marking the third consecutive world championship for the Bronx Bombers.
