The New York Yankees have a plethora of outfield depth.

Just look at prospect Spencer Jones as the best example of a player who could be receiving at-bats for a non-contender. Instead, the center fielder is stuck at Triple-A.

While the Yankees wait for the right moment to promote Jones to the Majors, they've decided another outfielder's progress is worthy of a promotion from Double-A to Triple-A.

"The Yankees have moved Venezuelan outfielder Kenedy Corona to Scranton, Triple-A, per source," Francys Romero of BeisbolFR wrote Monday on X. "Corona, 26, appeared in 3 MLB games with the Astros in 2025 and had started the season in Somerset Double-A, batting .250 with 3 home runs and 12 RBIs."

In 2019, Corona signed as an international free agent with the New York Mets. A trade involving outfielder Jake Marisnick sent him to the Astros just eight months later.

The Yankees added him on a minor league contract this past offseason, and he displayed good power and speed during spring training, connecting for two home runs with seven stolen bases in 10 attempts.

Corona's move to Triple-A brings him one step closer to a return to the Majors, but there are obvious candidates ahead of him on the outfield depth chart.

Nonetheless, the Yankees clearly believe what he's shown thus far was worthy of a promotion.
