If the San Diego Padres are going to trade Mason Miller, today is the day.
However, the dominant closer will likely be staying put. With eight wins in their last 10 games, the Padres are just one game back from a Wild Card spot.
ESPN's Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan wrote Monday that Miller's trade odds are at just 20%.
"That leaves the Padres in a position to dangle the best reliever in baseball and see what kind of bites they get. There will be plenty," McDaniel and Passan wrote.
"Miller is a true game changer, the king of the ninth, and with even the best teams always in need of another lockdown reliever, Miller's status will run parallel with the Padres'. If they don't turn things around soon, he could be an ex-Padre by Aug. 3."
Padres unlikely to trade Mason Miller
At this point, San Diego would have to receive an otherworldly offer to consider moving Miller. The Padres have played too well.
The New York Yankees don't seem like they'll be the club to give them an offer of that magnitude, considering how much they love top prospect George Lombard Jr.

Instead, the Yankees will probably attempt to fill the holes in their bullpen after trading Camilo Doval to the Pittsburgh Pirates and Jake Bird and Yovanny Cruz to the Washington Nationals in the deal for slugging first baseman Luis Garcia Jr.
Miller has three more years after his contract, and Yankees closer David Bednar reaches free agency at the end of the season.
If the Yankees take themselves out of the Miller bidding war, their main focus could be to re-sign Bednar this offseason.
