Jan. 8—Wyoming Valley Conference football will have a new look for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

The WVC athletic directors approved the schedule Thursday for the next two years, which will including a new three-division format.

The 12-team conference will be broken down as follows:

—Division 1: Hazleton Area, Pittston Area, Wilkes-Barre Area, Wyoming Valley West

—Division 2: Berwick, Crestwood, Dallas, Hanover Area

—Division 3: Lake-Lehman, Nanticoke Area, Tunkhannock, Wyoming Area

Holy Redeemer, which is a WVC member, will remain an independent in football. The divisions were based on recent PIAA enrollment figures for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years.

WVC football last used a three-division format in 2021 when it had 14 teams.

Since then, District 4 Williamsport left for the Heartland Conference after being a WVC football-only member since 1994. Holy Redeemer also dropped out of the football conference to play a more competitive independent schedule.
