The ‘biggest party of the summer’ kicks off this weekend as WWE bring one of their big four Premium Live Events to Minneapolis.
SummerSlam 2026 begins on August 1, and just like WrestleMania, the PLE is now spread over two nights.
Ahead of the show kicking off, there has been an update provided on Kevin Owens, who is reportedly in town ahead of SummerSlam.

Kevin Owens in Minneapolis ahead of SummerSlam
We have not seen Kevin Owens in action for well over a year at this stage, thanks to an injury.
Owens last stepped inside a ring on March 1, 2025, when he defeated Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber.
Fightful have now reported via their Patreon that Kevin is in Minneapolis, though they could not confirm if that means he is going to return at SummerSlam or not.
They stated: “Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has learned that former world champion Kevin Owens is in Minneapolis ahead of this weekend’s WWE SummerSlam.
“Kevin Owens has been sidelined for well over a year with a major neck injury.
“Owens has photo ops scheduled, but we are told he made efforts to appear on screen for WWE earlier this year.
“We haven’t learned if he is making his return, but he is in town.”
If Owens does return, perhaps he could cost Sami in his match at SummerSlam to reignite their feud from 2025.
After losing his title to CM Punk, Zayn is set to face off with Finn Balor to decide who will be the next No. 1 Contender to Punk’s Undisputed WWE Championship.
Alternatively, given the duo have been friends for a long time, maybe Kevin could help Zayn win the match with Balor if he does come back.
