As a native of Parma, Ohio, WWE superstar The Miz wears his pro sports allegiance on his sequined sleeve.

So while promoting this weekend’s WWE Backlash 2026, The Miz had a few thoughts about the Cleveland Cavaliers’NBA playoff series against the Detroit Pistons.

Surprisingly, he had to remind ESPN “Get Up” host Mike Greenberg the Cavs own an NBA title.

“I want to see the Cleveland Cavaliers come into the playoffs and take out the Detroit Pistons,” The Miz said. “Then … it’s going to be the Knicks and the Cavs. Then we’re going to take them out. Then it’s going to be in the NBA Finals with the Thunder, and we’re going to take out the Thunder because we’re the lightning.”

“And so the Cavaliers would then win their first-ever NBA championship,” Greenberg responded, offering The Miz a fist bump.

Never forget 2016

The Miz jumped on Greenberg’s error. Of course, LeBron James led the Cavaliers to the crown in 2016 with a Game 7 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

“Not first ever,” The Miz said. “We’ve won a championship before. LeBron won us a championship.”

Greenberg responded, “That’s exactly right. Somehow I managed to forget that one.”

Detroit owns a 1-0 series lead over Cleveland after Tuesday’s 111-101 victory in Detroit. The teams square in Game 2 at 7 p.m. ET Thursday on Amazon Prime Video.
