WWE SmackDown Results, Winners And Highlights

Randy Orton Kicks Off SmackDown

  • Randy Orton said Pat McAfee doesn’t tell him what he wants to hear, he tells him what he needs to hear. There was a lot of heat for McAfee, and I assure you, none of it was go-away heat.
  • Orton brought up Cody Rhodes, and the sold-out T-Mobile Arena booed heavily. Orton even spun the block and brought up Rhodes’ name again just so he could get booed.
  • Orton said Cody gave him “permission” to be himself, but Randy wrote the book on being himself. Fans popped huge for this.
  • Orton called back to WrestleMania 40 where Cody Rhodes chose Seth Rollins over Randy Orton as a tag tam partner. Meanwhile, Orton was put through a table by Solo Sikoa for trying to help Cody. He also talked about Kevin Owens nearly ending his career when he was trying to stand up for Cody. “All Cody does is take, take, take.”
  • Orton vowed to bring home No. 15 with the three most dangerous words in sports entertainment: RKO. A simple, effective go-home promo.
  • Backstage, GOAT heel Pat McAfee left SmackDown in his big, red truck to a chorus of boos. Don’t let anybody tell you Pat McAfee is getting “go-away heat.”

The MFTs Def. The Wyatt Sicks

  • This match started out as an all-out brawl with Talla Tonga making use of the stair step, which e used to take out half of the Wyatt Sicks. The pavlovian T-Mobile Arena began chanting for tables. Solo Sikoa teased bringing out the table, but then emphatically denied the fans of it.
  • There was a hoss fight between Erick Rowan and Talla Tonga that ended with an incredible suicide dive from Rowan. Fans continued chanting for tables, but even the babyfaces ignored them.
  • Nikki Cross bowed up to JC Mateo as fans continued to aggressively chant for tables. Back in the ring, Solo Sikoa peppered Uncle Howdy with kendo stick shots. Solo missed a running butt bump opening the door for Uncle Howdy to go crazy with chair shots on the MFTs.
  • Cross dove onto a couple MFTs on the outside. The MFTs and the Wyatt Sicks took turns gaining the advantage in the ring. Tama Tonga prepared to finish off Uncle Howdy, but Solo promptly swooped in, spiked Howdy and stole the pinfall. Tama was not happy with this.

Match Grade: B

Jacob Fatu Cuts A Promo From Atop A Cop Car

  • Jacob Fatu received a police escort on the stage as fans chanted his name. Fatu said he’s not ashamed of his past, he’s not afraid of it and he doesn’t live that life anymore.
  • Fatu said McIntyre putting him in cuffs didn’t bother him. Fatu said nobody would save him from their unsanctioned fight. Fatu said he already put jail in his rear-view, which is exactly where McIntyre will be after their match.
  • Fatu quoted Too Short (get a calculator, do the math) and vowed to defeat McIntyre at WrestleMania.

R-Truth And Damian Priest Def. Kofi Kingston And Grayson Waller

  • There were loud R-Truth chants as the match started, but Grayson Waller and Kofi Kingston got the better of Truth as fans rallied behind him.
  • Truth shoved Kofi into the ropes, causing Waller to trip, which led to the hot tag to Damian Priest. Priest walked on the ropes like the Undertaker, but then hit a cross body block.
  • R-Truth did the New Day clap as fans chanted “New Day sucks!” Truth tagged himself in and did John Cena’s five moves of doom. Vegas was begging for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, and both Priest and Truth gave it to them. Truth and Priest hit a Shatter Machine/Hart Attack for the win.

Match Grade: B-

Rhea Ripley And Jade Cargill Face Off

  • Rhea Ripley cut Jade Cargill off before she even said a word. This and the Oba-Brock feud have the most unanimous reactions for the babyface and the heel. Fans chanted “Mami” during Rhea’s opening lines. Ripley told Jade “I think you’re scared.”
  • Rhea said she couldn’t wait to embarrass Jade. B-Fab said the only person who should be embarrassed is Rhea. Fans booed loudly while B-Fab was talking.
  • Ripley accused Jade of hiding behind social media and challenged Jade to face her “alone” in the ring. With that, Jade sent the baddies off. Rhea called Jade a “narcissistic, selfish fake-ass b—h.” Jade walked off with the baddies to a chorus of boos. It was a flat ending to an otherwise heated segment.

Tiffany Stratton Def. Jordynne Grace

  • There was very little heat for the opening minutes of this match. A light “let’s go Tiffy” chant broke out during a flurry of offense from Jordynne Grace.
  • Jordynne Grace hammered Stratton with a series of headbutts while straddled on the second rope. If she commits to this spot enough, it’ll absolutely get over.
  • Stratton hit a somersault stunner followed by the PME for the win.

Match Grade: C

Trick Williams Brings Out The Gingerbread Man

  • Trick Williams got a huge reaction. He said he didn’t know when we were going to see Lil Yachty again after last week’s attack. Trick called out Zayn, and out came a gingerbread Man in costume.
  • Sami Zayn interrupted these highly entertaining festivities as fans booed him out of the building and chanted “we want Melo!” Sami admonished the gingerbread man for having his hands on his his as fans booed Sami for punching down.
  • Sami Zayn called Trick Williams a “punk rookie.” said Trick Williams had no plan. Trick said “I am the plan.” Trick said Sami threw all his accolades away because this “rookie” got in the game.
  • Sami asked if Trick’s plan was to stand in the ring with a gingerbread man. “Actually, Sami, I’m standing in the ring with two gingerbread men,” responded Trick. The two brawled and Sami clotheslined Trick out of the ring to a loud chorus of boos. Sami then hit a Helluva Kick to the gingerbread man.
  • Trick pounced and hit Sami with a Trick Knee and posed with the belt. If Trick loses to Sami at WrestleMania, it should be considered a high crime and a misdemeanor.

Charlotte Flair Vs. Lyra Valkyria Ends In A DQ

  • Before anything could get started, Nia Jax and Lash Legend hit the ring and laid out Charlotte, Lyra, Alexa and Bayley. That Trick Williams gingerbread segment was a tough act to follow, so there wasn’t much heat for this.
  • WWE aired a very well-done vignette of Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi.

  • Kit Wilson tripped over Johnny Gargano, who was comatose in the ring amid all the combatants, and was promptly eliminated. Talla Tonga eliminated both El Grande Americanos to immense heat.
  • Aleister Black was the resident Indy Darling Killer, eliminating Nakamura, Dragunov, Tozawa and most egregiously, Joe Hendry. Black was then eliminated by Royce Keys. Talla Tonga similarly eliminated fan favorites, and was similarly eliminated by Royce Keys.

Match Grade: B

Cody Rhodes And CM Punk Cut Go-Home Promos For WrestleMania

  • Cody was booed heavily, but fans also booed mentions of Travis Scott and Pat McAfee, whose mention inspired “go home, Pat” chants.
  • CM Punk interrupted Cody Rhodes to a thunderous ovation. This will undoubtedly be the final time both CM Punk and Cody are world champions at the same time.
  • Cody hilariously asked Punk “if I shake your hand, will you kick me in the balls and turn on me, too?" Fans wanted Punk to kick Rhodes in the balls, but Punk said he wasn’t going to, which drew boos.
  • CM Punk said he was proud of Cody Rhodes. Rhodes told Punk that he was up against one of the most dominant WrestleMania headlines ever. Rhodes said Punk could have played the hits during his return, but he came back better than ever. This almost sounded like a shot at Chris Jericho.
  • Punk said his father would be extremely proud of Punk and the two embraced. Rhodes’ music began to play, but Punk had some final words: “These titles are as much yours as they are ours, and we’re here to celebrate!”
