"WWE SmackDown" is in Oakland, California on this Friday, July 24, to keep putting stones in place ahead of SummerSlam. Expect plenty of fallout to be felt after Saturday Night's Main Event's crucial headlining match this past weekend.
Gunther and Nick Aldis' rivalry officially reached its boiling point at the conclusion of Gunther's tag-team action alongside Sami Zayn against CM Punk and Cody Rhodes. The acting "SmackDown" general manager ended up costing Gunther and Zayn the match, officially setting up his in-ring WWE debut against Gunther at SummerSlam. Their first confrontation as opponents should take place tonight.
Punk and Rhodes also saw their friendship implode, but not in the aforementioned SNME match. They had a brief squabble backstage before the SummerSlam press conference saw Punk shove "little brother" Rhodes in the face.
Elsewhere on tonight’s card, new Women's Tag Team Champions Fatal Influence are expected to appear. Meanwhile, in the world title picture, Charlotte Flair and Nia Jax will go at it to see who enters the interim title ladder match at SummerSlam. This comes after Flair cost Jax her match against Jade Cargill last week.
