Kevin Owens made a dramatic return to WWE as he was added to the opening match on night two of SummerSlam in Minnesota.
Owens has been out of action with a neck injury for around 17 months and some had even suggested he might never even wrestle again.
However, after Nick Aldis appeared to add Gunther to the opening match between Sami Zayn and Finn Balor, Aldis then pulled the biggest surprise of the weekend out by introducing Owens as the fourth man.
There was a huge pop for Owens and he went on to win, becoming the number one contender for the WWE Championship.
And over on social media, there was a huge reaction to Owens making his return.

WWE fans absolutely love Kevin Owens’ return at SummerSlam
Kevin Owens has been one of the most popular and best wrestlers of the last decade.
Both as a babyface and a heel, Owens has always been able to work the crowd and there was no surprise to see the crowd go wild when he appeared.
Over on social media, the response to Owens’ return was there for everyone to see and it’s safe to say it was an emotional return.
“Just cried over Kevin Owens”, one fan wrote, while another added “That pop for Kevin Owens, my guy has the streets”.
“Full goosebumps for the Kevin Owens pop wow. woooow wow wow. this just wasn’t the same without him, man” another added.
As for what’s next for Owens, it will see him get a shot at facing CM Punk for the WWE title in what should be an epic contest. Indeed, that’s what fans are looking forward to as well.
“Kevin Owens vs CM Punk, alright Triple Nose, you have my interest,” one fan wrote, while another admitted the idea of Punk v Owens sounded ‘epic’.
In terms of Owens’ return and what it could mean for WWE, it is yet another big and established star back on the roster.
Right now, WWE seems to have a depth of talent it’s not had before. Indeed, there is the return of Drew McIntyre to look forward to at some point down the line too.
As for the weekend that has been SummerSlam, with the rest of night two still to come, it feels like we might well have seen the best moment of the two nights already!
