The law, which prohibits any discussion or displays of "non-traditional" relationships around minors, also bans symbols such as the rainbow flag and has already caused controversy ahead of preparations for the 2014 Games and the football's biggest international tournament four years later.
With Sorokin believing the new legislation -- under the any athlete or spectator who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender could be susceptible to a 15-day jail term or face being deported from the country for being "pro-gay" -- has been "largely misinterpreted".

Yes - there is a huge uproar over the 2014 Winter Olympics, to be held in Sochi, Russia.


Russia is threatening to arrest any athlete or spectator that is gay.

Gays are being beaten, killed, etc, sponsored by the Government. The official government TV news anchor yesterday called for gays to have their hearts burnt out.

It's been brutal in Russia for awhile, but this thing has been brewing hot for the last three or four years. If we don't stay away in protest, I suggest fans wear Guy Fawkes masks in protest.

Reuters reports that a small group of anti-Kremlin protesters gathered outside the Central Election Commission headquarters wearing the now ominous "V for Vendetta" Guy Fawkes masks. The group said that it planned to occupy a nearby square holding the presidential offices.
The group was protesting over their belief that the upcoming presidential elections will not be democratic and that Vladimir Putin will be able to leverage the result in his favor.
However, despite the masks, the protest was swiftly quashed by armed police who arrested the protesters and herded them into a van.
