Saturday night marked the opening round of the 2025 World Supercross Championship. The first South American race in series history took place from Autodromo Oscar y Juan Galvez in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The day began with two clear favorites in each class, as Ken Roczen (SX1) and Max Anstie (SX2) scored the fastest qualifying time in their respective classes as well as taking the Superpole victory.
Team GSM Yamaha's Max Anstie scored the first holeshot of the season but had a bit of competition on the first lap. MotoConcepts Racing Honda's Noah Viney briefly took the top spot until the whoops, where Anstie went back around the young Canadian. Anstie began to pull away with Viney's teammate Cullin Park moving to second. It was a heated battle for third place, with Fire Power Honda's Shane McElrath climbing through the pack. The defending champion started in ninth position and began to move forward, passing the likes of Coty Schock and Kyle Peters. McElrath eventually took third and finished in that spot as Anstie took the race victory. Cullin Park matched his best WSX race finish with a strong second place performance.

Pipes Motorsports Group Suzuki's Ken Roczen went wire to wire in the opening SX1 contest of the night. The 2-time champion scored the holeshot and never looked back as other riders experienced issues. Stark Future's first 450 WSX race took a blow early on as Vince Friese went down on the first corner after being tagged by Devin Simonson's Yamaha. Jason Anderson also hit the dirt on the opening lap, dropping his Suzuki in the second bowl corner. Haiden Deegan's anticipated 450 debut began with a comeback ride. The teenager spun off the gate but worked his way through the pack, battling with racers such as Jorge Zaragoza. Roczen took the race win with Quad Lock Honda teammates Christian Craig and Joey Savatgy completing the podium. Haiden Deegan climbed to fourth, just ahead of teammate Justin Cooper. Jason Anderson's first race back aboard a Suzuki ended with an eighth place finish.

Max Anstie grabbed another early lead at the start of Race 2, fending off Stark Future's Michael Hicks. Anstie slowly built a gap once again as Hicks and McElrath battled for the runner-up spot. Unfortunately, Race 1 runner-up Cullin Park wasn't in the mix after an early tip-over. McElrath eventually cleared Hicks. Arby's Rick Ware Racing Yamaha rider Enzo Lopes scored the final podium spot as Anstie scored another victory, keeping his perfect weekend alive.

The second premier class race of the night featured a battle between Ken Roczen and Justin Cooper for the top spot. Cooper scored the holeshot and swapped places with Roczen as the two pulled away from the pack. Roczen moved into the lead for good after a few laps, with Jason Anderson holding steady in third. Haiden Deegan got off to another bad start and recovered to sixth.

The two SX2 championship favorites began the 12-minute Main Race out front, with Max Anstie starting just in front of Shane McElrath. The defending champion kept Anstie in his sights for a few laps, but Anstie stayed true to his earlier form and began creeping away. McElrath started to tighten up during the middle stage of the race and received pressure from Enzo Lopes. The Brazilian took second but made a mistake that allowed McElrath back into the runner-up spot. Lopes made another mistake in the whoops that sent him into several tuff blocks and out of the fight for second. McElrath continued to face pressure, fighting tooth and nail with Coty Schock and later Cullin Park. On the final lap, McElrath made contact with Park and took the Floridian down. Anstie swept the main events with Schock taking second from McElrath.

The final race of the night was a dominant showing from Ken Roczen. After scoring another holeshot, Roczen pulled away from the pack. The German made everything look easy and pulled a 13 second gap over Justin Cooper. Haiden Deegan had a much better race to end the night, climbing to third in the opening stages of the race. Deegan wasn't able to reel in Cooper but held station in third. Jason Anderson stayed fourth, with Christian Craig moving to fifth. After going 2-4 earlier in the night, Joey Savatgy struggled and finished eighth.

Max Anstie dominated in his full-time return to WSX competition, going 1-1-1 in Buenos Aires. He opened a six point gap up on defending champion Shane McElrath, who went 3-2-2. Thanks to his final race podium, Coty Schock took the last podium spot, putting the Arby's Rick Ware Racing Yamaha team on the box.
