When it comes to the current WWE product, there are very few stars who are ahead of Roman Reigns in the eyes of the company and maybe even the fans.

CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins are all certified main eventers, but nobody has been positioned as strongly as Roman has for some time.

Granted, his initial run post-Shield went very badly and saw fans quickly turn on him, but after aligning himself with Paul Heyman and forming The Bloodline, Reigns took his character to a new level.

However, Conrad Thompson has had some pretty harsh words to say about Roman recently.

Roman Reigns called ‘probably the most overrated main eventer in WWE history’

As shared by Cultaholic on X/Twitter, Conrad said: “I think Roman Reigns is probably the most overrated main eventer in WWE history. I know this isn’t a wrestling term, it’s a music term, but Roman Reigns is what music would call an industry plant. I don’t think if Roman Reigns disappears tomorrow WWE’s fortune changes at all.”

Now, a number of fans have responded to the post, and opinions on Thompson’s comments are split.

One fan claimed: “I mean, yeah. Is there anyone that doesn’t feel like this? There’s no reason he should have beat Seth.”

A second commented: “Admittedly, I’m not the biggest Roman Reigns fan, but even I don’t agree with these claims. Ultimate Warrior would be my choice for most overrated star.”

“If we were talking about Roman right after the Shield broke up, I could see the ‘industry plant’ comment. However, that’s not who we have now,” suggested a third.

Another responded: “Saying he is overrated is an opinion you can have. But using those arguments? Yikes.”

A fifth wrote: “WWE was at its absolute peak with him as the guy. The main attraction, with an exceptional story around him. It all fell off when he lost that title, that spot and the story ran out of legs. Ain’t nothing about him being overrated when the facts and evidence is all there.”

Regardless of what you think of Roman, he looks set to stick around on our screens for at least a few more months.

He is already advertised to feature at this year’s Money In The Bank, which takes place in October.

And after beating Rollins at SummerSlam, he appears to have started a feud with LA Knight on this week’s Monday Night Raw.
