Would Johnson have been around at 37?

Taylor Jacobs was!

I would much prefer Suggs, Jacobs than Johnson, Pace.

I am sooooo let down. Going to the games this year will be hard but I am still a fan.

To be honest....I had him going to us in my mock...in the second.

I actually underrated him. Obviously no one wanted Jacobs too badly as he slipped into the second. Johnson is a solid pick, the 3rd best receiver in my opinion.

I think Johnson could be a decent player. However, I do not like him so much that I sacrifice taking Suggs or Williams or Kennedy.

We could have had one of those three at 6. I never would have traded outside of #12. That is just me.

When you are picking #17/#18 it means you made the playoffs or are very close. We are not. We needed someone who will make an impact. Pace will not do that. However, Johnson might have good numbers because our D will stink so bad that we will have to air it out just to stay in the game. That means Emmitt will get about 10 touches a game. Shipp 5-8......

Exactly! You get high picks in the draft for a reason...because you SUCKED the year before and need to add big time talent.

Good teams can afford to take second tier guys, because they are already good.

Bryant and pace would have both been there in round 2. So was Kelsay. This is outrageous. They reached with both picks. Imagine Trufant and Kelsay or suggs and jacobs/bryant. We now also have no fourth rounder. We lost in the draft before we even picked. We could have had Suggs, Jacobs, and Boldin. That would have been an A draft. Boldin would have been there in the third i believe. Worst trade down in NFL history in my opinion.

Sounds like someone is overreacting....Bryant Johnson said that Denver called and was talking about taking him a few picks after us. Pace is, imo, a better overall end than Kelsay and obviously the Cards thought so too.

I dont think im overreacting. If we stayed at 6 we would have taken suggs so that moots the pace comment and we could have gotten jacobs which is more of a playmaker and imo a better WR than johnson. Think about it Suggs, jacobs plus we keep our fourth or pace and johnson and have no fourth. Which would you have?

They pass every down, comparing #'s for a WR from the Florida Gators to a WR from Penn State is ridiculous.

As for your "four guys that can play in the NFL!!!" comment. The 4 guys they picked would have went in the first 3 rounds regardless if we took them.

Who was available in the 4th round that is a sure fire NFL player?

Bryant Johnson would have been loooong gone way before our pick in the 2nd. It is clear he was rated as the third best WR in the draft. So much for Kelley Washington.

Its not Suggs/Jacobs instead of Johnson/ Pace.

Its Suggs/Jacobs instead of Johnson/Pace AND Boldin.

Good grief folks, you are operating on hindsight here. I have no knowledge of which is the better WR but to say that after the fact the guy you prefered was there is pointless.

We picked boldin late round 2 we still had our early 3rd. IMO he would have been there in the early third. Think logically suggs/jacobs/Boldin and a fourth rounder or johnson/pace/boldin and no fourth rounder. The cards find most of their starters in the third or fourth rounds. Losing the 4th rounder to me was the worst part of the trade.

Fine throw hayes in but still no 4th rounder plus th last time i checked LB was not a glaring need on this team. They should have taken a CB. I would still take suggs/jacob/Boldin and a 4th instead of johnson/pace/boldin/hayes.

Ahh, but team's (not Kiper or other supposed draft gurus) had Pace ranked higher than 40. Hell I thought he was, at least athletically and production wise, better than 40.

It doesn't matter where magazines and draft guideds have players ranked. Often times they are wrong.

Hayes is the MLB of the future. We actually didn't have a good backup MLB. Darling was brought in to be a special teamer and possibly a strongside starter.

In the 3rd round Hayes was excellent value. Actually both of our later picks were our better picks.

True. But my point is simple...Suggs was less of a reach at 6 than Pace at 18. Pace may turn out to be a good player. He has just as much of a chance to succeed or bust than anyone else. But the risk is less for Suggs than Pace IMO

Maybe, but obviously the Cards didn't think so.

Suggs is a boom or bust player (even though I was touting him as a sure thing). After we passed on him, 2 teams desperate for a defensive end did also.

Seahawks needed a defensive end as does the Vikings, but they didn't think too highly of Suggs.

The seahawks picked 11th which was after suggs was taken and the vikings main need was DT. They wanted someone on the line that can stop the run but still penetrate.

Ahh...you are right, I forgot about that!

But the Vikings did need and edge rusher, and they passed on Suggs also. I'm getting the feeling that most teams viewed Suggs as a 3-4 OLB, and not a 4-3 end.
