North Jersey welcomes fans to the World Cup final on Sunday, July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium, aka MetLife Stadium.

It's Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, who has had his ups and downs on the pitch in New Jersey, versus Spain, led by Mikel Oyarzabal, which searches for its first title since 2010. The kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. in East Rutherford, with sunny skies predicted over New Jersey, no rain anticipated.

Stadium gates open at 11 a.m.

We've got you covered on your trip to and from the stadium, and everything in between.

Check back here throughout the day Sunday as we bring you live coverage for this historic event.

Getting to the World Cup

Kris Kolluri, who heads NJ Transit and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, said the crowd for a World Cup final — with tickets averaging over $11,000, according to Forbes — is different than those of the seven prior matches that took place in the Meadowlands. In other words, expect more match-goers will rely on black car service as opposed to public transportation.

The window of traffic and chaos around the stadium will be longer than past matches because an opening ceremony, featuring Tom Cruise and other stars, begins at 1:30 p.m., and there will be a closing ceremony when the match ends to award the trophy.

Host committee shuttle service at its three pick-up locations in Manhattan and one in Nutley, New Jersey begins at 9:30 a.m.

Will it be Spain or Argentina that wins the World Cup?

Lionel Messi and Argentina are able to break through for a goal, but ultimately Spain’s defense is too much to handle as Spain takes down the defending champs.
