Running backs frequently make or break fantasy seasons. Drafting one bargain improves playoff odds. Drafting two improves title odds. Here are three of the biggest RB fantasy bargains in the AFC South based on average draft position (ADP).
The Titans’ two top running backs will be playing this year on expiring contracts. Tony Pollard is now 29 years old, while 25-year-old Tyjae Spears has missed nine games in the past two seasons. This team arguably is not a Super Bowl contender. They are almost assuredly looking ahead to 2027, trying to determine their needs in what might be a playoff-caliber squad.
That’s what makes Nicholas Singleton so intriguing at his RB62 ADP. The fifth-round rookie joins a stable backfield on the verge of transition. Singleton was a consistent, four-year contributor at Penn State, amassing 622 carries and a whopping 102 receptions. On paper, he appears ready to carry the load if called upon. The closer we get to the fantasy playoffs, the better the odds of Singleton getting turned loose.
If you agree with me that David Montgomery is overvalued as Houston’s #1 running back, then Woody Marks looks well-positioned to bust through his RB45 ADP. Marks was last year’s RB36 in points per game. He has room to grow through the air, as he caught a seemingly impossible 261 balls in college to go with 608 carries, but saw only 36 targets as a rookie. He has a great shot at cracking the top 28.
Finally, it’s easy to forget that entering last season, Jonathan Taylor had missed 16 of his previous 47 games. D.J. Giddens’ RB74 ADP is compelling, assuming he’ll enter this season as the handcuff. While Taylor looked unstoppable last year, I think his over/under for games played is 14.5. A couple of spot starts for Giddens, plus some mop-up work, should make him a bargain.
