It's safe to say responses have been mixed as to how fans are feeling about Shawn Eichorst being the Wisconsin Badgers' next athletic director.
Eichorst was fired from the University of Nebraska, but later took over a pair of jobs at the University of Texas and has been there for quite some time.
Some view this as a safe hire, but others don't think it's safe at all, looking at Eichorst's track record. At the end of the day, he had ties to the program dating back to the legendary Barry Alvarez.
One Nebraska fan commented on the official announcement, "Gotta admire the sheer dedication to repeating every single one of Nebraska's mistakes of the 21st Century. In my wildest fantasies, I would have never imagined you all would do something this self-destructively dumb."
Remember, Eichorst last worked for the Cornhuskers in 2017. Plenty has changed in the past nine years and now Wisconsin is ready to give him another chance to prove himself.
"Please provide a detailed citation to back up the claim of "success" at the "highest level." Thank you in advance," another wrote.
This fan disagreed: "A tremendous hire for the Badgers! Congrats and On Wisconsin!"
"This is just another terrible hire for Bucky. Can't imagine this going well, but I guess we'll see if miracles do happen," someone commented.
"Hopefully his buyout isn't a lot in three years, for your sake," someone said.
Another Badgers fan chimed in, "We are screwed. Look what he did at Nebraska. They are finally getting out of the damage he did there."
"You really did it, you crazy Badgers," this individual commented.
Someone asked, "When does Fickell get fired?"
This fan sarcastically wrote, "Very excited for the future of Wisconsin athletics!"
