MADISON – Wisconsin football will be sporting a different look for its 2026 season opener against Notre Dame at Lambeau Field.
The Badgers and Under Armour released alternate uniforms on July 9 that pay “tribute to the shared history between the University of Wisconsin and the Green Bay Packers.”
The uniforms consist of red helmets, red jerseys and red pants with metallic silver numbering, lettering and other features.
The Lombardi Trophy, which the Packers have won four times, was the inspiration for the metallic silver. The three stripes on the top of the shoulders – two metallic stripes and one red stripe – blended the Packers’ three-stripe design with the Badgers’ two-stripe design.
The uniforms also include a metallic Motion W logo on the upper arm of the jersey and on the red helmets. A metallic version of the American flag recognizes the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, UW said on social media.
When the Badgers wear the alternate uniforms on Sept. 6 against Notre Dame, it will be their first time wearing a jersey with the Culver’s logo on it as part of the recently announced jersey patch sponsorship. The blue Culver’s logo is in the corner below the Big Ten logo.
“From the hallowed grounds of Camp Randall to the legendary history of Lambeau Field, these uniforms represent the storied football history of the state of Wisconsin,” UW said in the announcement.

Notre Dame – one of the other schools with Under Armour as its official outfitter – also will be wearing alternate uniforms as well. The Fighting Irish’s blue uniforms are a “tribute to the deep blues worn by the historic 1920s Acme Packers,” the team announced the day before.
Notre Dame’s uniforms also include striping on the upper arm that is a “subtle nod” to the Packers’ uniforms, various metallic gold features and a similar American flag design.
