If I understand correctly, they needed to boost their goal differential to get a bye for the playoff round. I thought it made for good theatre. I remember the Italian fans cheering for a shot on goal.

the USA goalie let in 2 goals that should not have been goals. other than that, it was mostly dominant. the danish goalie was also poor. he let in some soft goals. a few of them were directly off faceoffs. I haven't watched Canada yet, but I imagine the US team need to be more clinical with their opportunities when they face a team with a top defense. I also worry about their size on the back line when trying to defend opposing elite forwards. the wild card could be defenseman quinn hughes who can really skate and score. he was not at the four nations.
