The Los Angeles Dodgers stunned the baseball world with their acquisition of two-time Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers.

Skubal is one of the best pitchers in the MLB, and he now forms a deadly partnership on the Dodgers with Yoshinobu Yamamoto as the franchise targets a historic three-peat.

With only 50 games remaining before the end of the regular season, Skubal is expected to be brought into the fold quickly for the Dodgers to get ready in time for the postseason.

Tarik Skubal will make his Dodgers debut at Wrigley Field against the Cubs

Cubs’ president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman has confirmed that the franchise expects Skubal to make his Dodgers debut on Tuesday against the Cubs in the iconic Wrigley Field.

This will be Skubal’s first-ever game at Wrigley Field, so the 29-year-old pitcher will get to cross off multiple firsts in his debut for the Dodgers.

He has a 1-1 record with an ERA of 4.12 and 18 strikeouts in 3 appearances against the Cubs over his career, with all games taking place at Comerica Park.

Skubal hasn’t played much this season, registering a 7-5 record with a 2.79 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and 116 strikeouts in 96.2 innings over 16 starts with the Tigers this season.

Skubal has missed a lot of time due to elbow surgery, but is expected to be fully healthy and ramping up for a chance at winning his first-ever World Series and being part of a historic Dodgers three-peat.

The Dodgers have enough pitching talent to ensure Skubal isn’t overtaxed at any point.

Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow are also in the pitching rotation but have been sidelined with injury, and are expected to return in the coming weeks. Justin Wrobleski is having a strong pitching season as well.

Skubal’s addition, with the returning Snell and Glasnow, does indicate Shohei Ohtani will focus more on batting rather than pitching in the final stretch of the season.

Even with that happening, the Dodgers’ collection of talent on the mound is almost insurmountable.
