Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson, former Bengals offensive tackle Willie Anderson and former St. Xavier High School standout and Carolina Panthers great Luke Kuechly are among those hoping to hear their names when the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2026 is revealed Thursday night during the NFL Honors show in San Francisco.

On Dec. 3, Ken Anderson was one of five finalists named among contributors, coaches and senior players – those who last played at least 25 years ago – along with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, longtime Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, Roger Craig and LC Greenwood.

Kraft was not selected for entry into the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2026, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Feb. 3. Earlier reports indicated that Belichick also fell short in pursuit of first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Fame election.

How Pro Football Hall of Fame voting works

Fifty voters each pick three of the five finalists. Between one to three of the finalists are elected if they get at least 40 votes. If no candidate gets 40 votes, the top vote-getter is elected. If Kraft and Belichick did fall short, Anderson, Craig or Greenwood could all be elected, but only the top vote-getter is guaranteed a spot.

"There is no world where Ken Anderson should get a vote over Bill Belichick," ESPN's Damien Woody tweeted in January.

Willie Anderson, one of 15 modern-era player finalists for this year's class, was among those coming to Ken Anderson's defense in the replies of Woody's tweet.

In Feb. 2025, Willie Anderson, a finalist each of the past five years, and Kuechly, a seven-time Pro Bowler for the Panthers, were denied entry to the class of 2025.

Modern-era players require a minimum positive vote of 80 percent.
