Division 5 championship game

The day began with a rematch from last year's Division 5 title game.

And No. 2 Almond-Bancroft got some revenge on Belmont to win its first state championship.

The Eagles, who fell to Belmont in the 2025 title game, left no doubt about who was No. 1 in 2026. Almond-Bancroft crushed Belmont, 16-8, as the Eagles scored in every inning punctuated by a six-run seventh inning to put the game away.

Almond-Bancroft finished the season 28-1, while Belmont ends its title defense just short at 22-7.

Almond-Bancroft pounded out 20 hits with Mya Dernbach, Riya Ceballo, Sophia Chapa, Oakley Omernik and Emalee Petrick all posting three-hit games.

Aaliyah Newby led the way with four RBIs.

The duo of Lexi Carlton and Riya Cebello teamed in the pitcher’s circle for Almond-Bancroft. Carlton pitched four innings for the win and Ceballo earned the save for the final three innings.
