Why Wild-Flyers made trade with Bobby Brink, David Jiricek originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
It's rare to get one-for-one trades, but that's what the Minnesota Wild and Philadelphia Flyers pulled off on Friday before the deadline.
The Wild will get Bobby Brink, while the Flyers will get David Jiricek, with the deal reported by ESPN's Emily Kaplan.
Minnesota adds a talented winger, while Philadelphia fortifies its defense.

Why did Wild, Flyers trade Bobby Brink for David Jiricek?
This looks to be a matter of repurposing assets.
Minnesota wanted more firepower up front, so Brink is a logical pickup. The 2019 second-round pick from the University of Denver is 24 years old and has 13 goals and 13 assists in 55 games this season.
Brink is a quirky player, just 5-foot-8, but he makes plays.
Jiricek is a 22-year old defenseman who needs a fresh start. He was the No. 6 overall pick in 2022 and stands 6-foot-4, but this season, he has no points in 25 games.
The Flyers have the bandwidth to see if Jiricek can develop into his potential, but he wasn't helping Minnesota enough this season.
Could this move signal anything else? Maybe.
It could mean Philly still thinks it might trade Rasmus Ristolainen away, or it could simply be about future potential.
Brink won't impact Minnesota's pursuit of Vincent Trocheck, who is a center.
There could be more to come.
