Normally, returning to Fenway Park after sweeping an opponent on the road would be great news for the Boston Red Sox.

This year, however, Fenway has not been kind to the Red Sox.

Boston is 8-14 with a minus-18 run differential at home this season. The offense has been historically bad there, averaging just 2.77 runs per game. It's a big reason why the Red Sox are 1-5-1 in their seven home series this season and why they've lost 11 of their last 15 games there.

The Red Sox have won 4 of 5 and are 9-6 in their last 15. They are one (more) good week away from making things interesting. Now, they MUST play better at Fenway Park, where they are just 8-14 on the season. pic.twitter.com/6rtZISOT1F

Boston has a chance to reverse those concerning trends during its upcoming homestand against the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves, which starts on Friday. The Twins are 23-27 and have struggled on the road, going 8-13 away from Target Field.

The Braves have the best record in baseball, so they'll be a tough matchup. It also doesn't help that Boston lost its previous series against both teams this year.

Regardless of what happens against Atlanta, winning the Minnesota series would be a step in the right direction for the Red Sox, who haven't won a series at home since early April.

Boston needs to avoid a repeat of what happened two weeks ago. After sweeping the Detroit Tigers on the road, the Red Sox returned home and went 2-4 against the Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies, immediately losing their momentum.

Hopefully, the team has a better homestand this time around.
